Bill Maher reports fears of 'woke' girlfriends are keeping people from talking at parties

The host of "Real Time" on HBO once again returned to the topic "cancel culture" on Friday evening.

Bill Maher discussed the topic with former Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) and Reason editor Nick Gillespie.

Heitkamp said the problem occurred on "both sides" because "the war on Christmas is just like wokeness. Right?"

"It is," Maher replied. "Of course, they're snowflakes, too. But they don't control the media the ways these brats do."

"I don't think it was Republicans who got Alexi McCammond," Maher said of the journalist who "decided to part ways with Condé Nast."

Maher then talked about the blacklist days of Hollywood and how cancel culture is impacting the party scene.

"People go to parties now and they, like, don't want to talk," he reported.

Maher said, "they're like, 'Can I talk? I don't know your girlfriend, she might be woke.'"

"Really," he continued. "I'm not making this up."
