Fox News viewers flip out after analyst Trey Gowdy blames 'white males' for mass shootings
Viewers lashed out at Fox News after contributor Trey Gowdy, a former prosecutor, blamed "young white males" for mass shootings.
Gowdy made the point following a gunman's rampage at the Annunciation Church in Minneapolis on Wednesday.
"Our system is reactive," Gowdy explained. "And the only way to stop it is to identify the shooter ahead of time or keep the weapons out of their hand. And so we're going to have to have a conversation of freedom versus protecting children."
"I mean, how many school shootings does it take before we're going to have a conversation about keeping firearms out — it's always a young white male, almost always," he continued. "It is usually young white males."
Fox News fans reacted to Gowdy's remarks with outrage.
"Trey Gowdy just indicted all young white males as school shooters on Fox News. If this shooter turns out to be a Trans male (early leaks are indicating), he better go on Fox and issue an apology," one viewer demanded on X.
A user going by the name fedup_patriot called Gowdy an "ignorant POS."
"It's a Catholic School, I can think of several other 'groups' more likely to be suspected of this one. Fox is garbage media," the commenter complained.
"Trey Gowdy is straight up spreading Liberal anti Gun Bullsh— on Fox News," M1Patriot wrote. "Says only White guys with guns commit these mass shootings. Go to Chicago, Saginaw, Flint, Detroit... Damn near every night. They just dont report on it because they are black. FU TREY."
