A Capitol rioter from Texas who allegedly threatened to kill his children if they turned him in, had to face new evidence in court on Thursday that points to his intentions for traveling to D.C. on Jan. 6.
NBC4 reporter Scott MacFarlane shared a new court filing showing comments from Guy Wesley Reffitt in which he suggested in a Telegram chat with his fellow Three Percenter militia members that he planned to carry out violence during the January 6th demonstrations at the United States Capitol.
"The only way you'll be able to do anything in DC is if you get the crowd to drag the traitors out," he said on December 22 after saying he planned to travel to D.C..," one person wrote, to which Reffitt responded, "I don't think anyone going to DC has any other agenda."
In the same thread, Reffitt wrote: "The fuel is set. We will strike the match in DC on the 6th."
As RawStory pointed out last month, Reffitt is accused of transporting a rifle and a semi-automatic handgun from Texas to Washington where he allegedly planned to use them on Jan. 6. Federal prosecutors say he illegally carried the handgun on Capitol grounds and that he played a "significant and dangerous role" at the front of the first group of rioters to challenge a police line trying to secure the building.
