Kash Patel's bold FBI recruitment boost bewilders even MAGA

Kash Patel had the most bizarre Capitol Hill grilling this week — and it left even MAGA bewildered.

The group that helped Trump win is losing faith in America — but it isn't about politics

President Donald Trump won 43% of the Hispanic vote in 2024, up from 35% in 2020 – a big gain for Republicans. Now, as the midterms approach, Hispanic Americans across party lines are losing faith in the American Dream, and his administration’s immigration crackdown appears to be part of the reason.

Arrests by Immigration and Customs Enforcement of people with no criminal record are surging. Federal immigration agents have shot at nearly two dozen people – most of them Latino – since last year, according to The New York Times. Those include the fatal shootings of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Texas and Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero in Maine.

A Trojan horse threatens to turn America into a puppet nation — and it's inside the gates

As a veteran, the oath I took to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, did not come with an expiration date. National security is not solely the responsibility of the military or even law enforcement. It begins with ensuring a government of, by, and for the people cannot be bought by the ultra-wealthy or left vulnerable to foreign influence.

A nation whose elected officials are propped up by foreign countries and shadow entities is not a sovereign nation, but a puppet. It is time to cut the strings.

A secret new court with mind-blowing powers has been quietly unleashed by Trump

Last Friday, for the first time in American history, a brand new court in America deported Nazira Haji Zada, a 47-year-old lawful permanent resident living in Fort Worth, to Afghanistan. She was never charged with a crime, and wasn’t allowed to see the evidence against her (and neither were her lawyers). Attorney General Todd Blanche called the whole thing “a win for national security and the rule of law.”

This was possible because, in a moment of national hysteria following the Tim McVeigh bombing in Oklahoma City in the 1990s, Congress authorized the creation of the Alien Terrorist Removal Court, something so counter to normal American concepts of the rule of law and fair play that no president before now had been willing to use it.

Hegseth's true job is done — and now he's in grave danger

God, the list of terrible Trump Cabinet appointees (and other positions) is as endless as the number of jobs themselves — though that's to be expected when the first, maybe only, requirement is unrequited love, along with unwavering and public support of Donald Trump as president and person.

Bessent, Blanche, Patel, Noem — one could go on and on. And yet the worst still holds his job, perhaps because Trump doesn't fire white males, perhaps because Secretary of Defense Peter Hegseth actually does efficiently and perfectly perform the real task before him — pandering to Trump and persecuting those he believes deserve it — while failing at all others.

Trump is set to burn — and Mike Johnson's appalling betrayal can't save him

Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA), aka Speaker Jesus Freak, just sent the entire House home for an extended recess that will last until after the November midterms — because he’s a traitor to the United States of America.

Johnson’s reasoning for this treasoning? It seems clear that it's to delay votes because Trump ordered him to.

MAGA turned on one of its own — then used him to gaslight the left

Charlie Kirk was insta-martyred by MAGA after he was assassinated just over a year ago. Seconds after the news was announced, without a shooter in custody or even a suspect, they immediately blamed Democrats. Within a shockingly short period of time, they had a coordinated effort to go after all liberals.

I don’t trade in conspiracies, but it seemed completely sus right away that they were all saying similar things at the same time when we had zero information about Kirk’s assassin. "This is war," screamed the right-wing X account Libs of TikTok, which Elon Musk wrote, "The Left is the party of murder." They were echoed by many more.

Loose-lipped Mike Johnson just spilled on how a defeated GOP plans to keep Congress

It isn’t the U.S. Postal Service I’m so worried about. I don’t have a giant concern that ballots won’t be distributed to eligible voters – and by eligible, I mean all of them. Even the troublesome ones in blue states. Call me crazy, but I feel like that’s a bit of a red herring – a diversion from their actual goal.

What really worries me is what happens after Democrats win control of the House and Senate and the Republicans in control (I’m talking about you, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and you, Senate Majority Leader John Thune) simply refuse to seat the duly elected senators and representatives.

This magical 'fix' will plunge the Kennedy Center into even darker days

The Kennedy Center is reportedly facing bankruptcy within weeks. But that could all magically disappear with one action, according to Trump's lackeys on the board — put his name back on the building.

Yep, it’s that easy, apparently.

A few lines in GOP bill blew up a red state — and one of its architects is running for gov

Kansans may remember the rise and spectacular fall of Gov. Sam Brownback’s disastrous tax experiment, which was designed to eliminate the state income tax. Less well known to Kansans is the key role that current gubernatorial candidate Ty Masterson played in the enactment and execution of the failed experiment.

The plan enacted by Republican lawmakers in 2012 gave Kansas four years of unbalanced budgets, unfair tax increases, and historic debt.

Blind panic signals something monstrous just unraveled in an AI lab

Humanity's last 300 years have seen its share of paradigm shifts: the power of steam mechanics, electric power, the assembly line, robotic automation, computers, the net. They all upended the status quo.

Moreover, even early in each transformation, everyone understood the world would never be the same. Jobs disappeared, but all to free up "human power," stuff only people could do. It never went smoothly, always requiring good government.

MAGA's mirth becomes terror as Trump's 'jokes' take dark turn

No one ever benefited more from putting their serious, and seriously warped, notions — whether self-aggrandizement or self-interested aspirations — out as mere meme "jokes" than Donald Trump, who uses the tactic so he can shrug off tough questions.

The pattern continues apace. They were always outrageous; they're increasingly dangerous.
