Elon Musk was mocked online on Sunday morning after he showed off an AI shopping assistant and appeared to reveal the address where he gets his mail.
“I just asked Grok @Bot to research the most fun Lego Star Wars kits for young kids and order them. As easy as that,” Musk wrote on X. His post shared screenshots of the bot confirming a $241.34 order of five Lego sets, charged to his Amex. The screenshots included the order number, the shipping destination and the Lego order-confirmation page.
Critics quickly piled on.
“Just canceled your order, don’t share your info online guys,” the YouTuber Enderman wrote. He shared screenshots of a chat with Lego’s AI customer service assistant in which he appeared to use Musk’s order number to request a cancellation.
“OPSEC level: broadcasting my home address and order details to 242 million followers,” International Cyber Digest wrote.
Aaron Fritschner, chief of staff to Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.), pointed to Musk’s past bans of journalists over an account that tracked his jet. “Remember when this guy banned journalists from the platform for discussing an account that tracked publicly available flight information? He called that ‘doxxing,’” he wrote. “Anyway he just posted a screen shot that apparently includes his own home address and billing address.”
“Did he just dox himself lmao,” wrote YouTuber Matt Lowne.
Democratic strategist Matt Royer wrote, “And then to prove it, Elon just....doxxed himself???” Royer had already mocked an earlier Musk post encouraging users to photograph their credit cards and drop them into chat so Grok could make purchases. “I bet this sounds like a good plan if you’re really stupid,” Royer wrote. X’s Community Notes added context to that post, noting that xAI “explicitly warns users not to include personal information in prompts.”
Musk pushed back on the claims that he doxxed himself with his details. “That address has already been doxxed multiple times,” he wrote. “I don’t live there. That’s where my security team receives mail.”
“Doxxed himself then issued a correction, elite opsec tbh,” one user replied.
It’s not the first time. In June 2025, Musk accidentally doxxed himself while sharing the results of a drug test meant to counter reports of his drug use, The Daily Beast reported.
