Billionaire among 5 people reported to be on board missing Titanic submarine

The U.S. Coast Guard is currently searching for a deep-water submersible that went missing while exploring the wreckage of the Titanic in the Atlantic Ocean. According to The Daily Beast, British billionaire and explorer Hamish Harding is among the five people on board the the missing vehicle, The Daily Beast reported.

“Thoughts and prayers for my stepfather Hamish Harding as his Submarine has gone missing exploring Titanic,” Harding’s stepson, Brian Szasz wrote on social media.

Harding, the chairman of global sales company Action Aviation, was sharing posts on social media about the expedition just this weekend.

“Due to the worst winter in Newfoundland in 40 years, this mission is likely to be the first and only manned mission to the Titanic in 2023,” Harding wrote. “A weather window has just opened up and we are going to attempt a dive tomorrow. We started steaming from St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada yesterday and are planning to start dive operations around 4am tomorrow morning. Until then we have a lot of preparations and briefings to do.”

Harding previously went to space aboard the Blue Origin mission last year.
