Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s “State of the Force” speech to US junior officers and high-ranking Pentagon personnel on Wednesday was the object of much laughter on MS NOW on Friday morning.
After sharing a clip of Hegseth manically pacing a stage before an American flag backdrop, and ranting, “We are no longer the woke department or the weak department. Simple translation: No no fatties, no t-------, no beardos, no weirdos,” Joe Scarborough, co-host of “Morning Joe,” smirked and offered, “You know, that is such a beta display. It really is.”
Addressing co-host Willie Geist, he continued, “Yeah, I don't know, Willie. Do you know alpha males who talk like that? I mean, that guy, he went full beta with an American flag behind him, too. And it's what these guys do; it's like they're always trying to overcompensate. Like, why doesn't he start running beauty pageants or something like that? It's just such a beta thing to do.”
With Geist pointing out that Hegseth also went on and "ranted" about testosterone levels again, the MS NOW host pointed out, “Joe, we say it again, you and I grew up in locker rooms and fraternity houses. I just — dudes did not sit around and talk about their testosterone and all this other stuff these guys are obsessed with.”
“It's getting really weird out there,” he added.
