Lawmakers demand ICE free pregnant detainees held in 'appalling conditions'

The Democratic Women’s Caucus is demanding the release of any pregnant, postpartum and nursing immigrants who are being held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and who don’t pose a security risk.

The group of lawmakers made the demand in a letter to ICE acting Director Todd Lyons, citing “deeply concerning” reports of pregnant women who have been arrested and detained under circumstances that pose risks to their health and their pregnancies. The 19th reported last month on several cases of immigrant women who were held in ICE detention and said they didn’t receive adequate food, sleeping situations, prenatal care or access to pumping supplies while in government custody. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) documented more than a dozen additional cases in a letter sent to ICE officials on October 22.

Trump's 'affordability' pitch includes reminding voters they're 'lucky' he won: report

President Donald Trump tested out his "affordability" pitch during a speaking engagement on Monday night, according to a new report, and that pitch included a reminder to voters about how "lucky" they are that he defeated former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.

Trump appeared at the McDonald's Impact Summit at the Westin Hotel in Washington, D.C., where he gave a speech about tackling issues wrought during the Biden administration. He also discussed affordability, something he has asked Republicans to talk about more after seeing Democrats sweep a series of high-profile races during the November 4 election.

MAGA just proved even Trump 'not immune to political physics': Ex-GOP official

A former California GOP official said on Monday that President Donald Trump is facing an "unprecedented split" from his base, and that shows he is "not immune" to politics as many have thought since he was elected, according to a new report.

Over the last several months, Trump has faced growing criticism from within the Republican Party over his handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files. Some of his critics include MAGA voices like Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Nancy Mace (R-SC), and Thomas Massie (R-KY). The House is also expected to vote this week on releasing the Epstein files, which the administration has sought to prevent.

GOP sends 'menacing texts' to voters ordering them to un-sign petition: report

The Republican National Committee is reportedly sending "menacing texts" to voters in Missouri, ordering them to retract their signatures from a ballot petition to suspend Republicans' recently passed Congressional gerrymander that deletes a Democratic seat in Kansas City.

Missouri is one of a handful of Republican-controlled states that redrew their maps in a demand from Trump. However, voting rights activists responded by gathering signatures for a ballot measure to repeal it. If that measure qualifies, the altered map is automatically suspended until and unless voters approve it.

Ex-RNC chair warns 'dam is starting to break' as Trump's Epstein stance collapses

President Donald Trump's months of opposition to releasing the full Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking case files have collapsed, MS NOW anchor and former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele said on Monday, as Trump tries to now insist he was in favor of the release all along — and it is actually bad news for Democrats.

"The dam is starting to break in the U.S. Senate ahead of tomorrow's House vote to release the Epstein files," said Steele. "New tonight, Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville, a staunch Trump ally, says he'll vote to release the files, telling NBC News that Democrats have, quote, 'been yelling about it. Let's just shut them up.' Well, that announcement comes on the heels of Trump's supporting the House vote tomorrow to release the files. Here's what Trump said today, including a new promise to sign the bill into law if it passes the Senate."

'Extraordinary': Ex-White House lawyer stunned by Trump DOJ's act of 'misconduct'

A former White House lawyer was stunned by alleged "misconduct" by President Donald Trump's lawyers at the Department of Justice in their prosecution of former FBI Director James Comey.

On Monday, a federal judge determined that the Trump administration's lawyers misrepresented the law and potentially misled grand jury members while seeking their indictment of Comey. The former FBI director was charged in September with two counts of obstruction of justice and lying to Congress. The judge said the DOJ's errors could "imperil" their prosecution, Politico reported.
