MSNBC's Psaki piles on Marco Rubio for letting Trump humiliate him in front of reporters

Ridicule of Secretary of State Marco Rubio for sitting slumped on a couch in the Oval Office as Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance berated Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky last Friday has not abated and MSNBC's Jen Psaki got in her shots on Sunday afternoon.

Rubio, who has been on the receiving end of widespread mockery after his couch posture was memorialized in hundreds of memes, has also been castigated for being a huge supporter of Zelensky as well as Ukraine, until a switch was flipped when Trump picked him for his Cabinet.

That has put the former GOP senator from Florida in the unenviable position of defending not only Trump's obvious hostility towards the war-torn country, preferring Vladimir Putin and Russia instead, but Rubio's own past comments about the three-year-old war are now under the microscope.

As Psaki explained, before sharing a supercut of Rubio's pro-Ukraine comments, "Remember, this is a guy who, as a senator and chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, used to be a pretty staunch Russia hawk. The Rubio we used to know would surely would have had a lot to say about all of this. There's really no better way to show all of you that than using Rubio's own words to rebut some of Trump's most outrageous statements from the past two weeks."

Following sharing the clips, she added, "What has changed, it seems, is you, Marco Rubio. Because Senator Rubio is now Secretary Rubio in the second Trump administration and what he claimed to believe for years is completely at odds with the administration's current posture."

"It's not clear whether he even cares," he MSNBC host suggested. "I mean, I can't read his mind, obviously, but maybe he's given up on America as a leader on the global stage. Maybe he's given up on opposing authoritarian regimes, given up on democracy and defending alliances like NATO. But if Secretary Rubio does still believe even just one iota of what he said as a senator over the many years, that has good reason to feel uncomfortable right now."

CNN's Jennings put on the spot to 'come to my town hall' by Democrat after Trump brag

CNN conservative Scott Jennings' decision to claim Americans are very pleased with the direction the country has taken now that Donald Trump is firmly ensconced in the Oval Office led a Democratic lawmaker to offer an invitation to hear what voters really think.

During the concluding panel discussion on CNN's "State of the Union" with host Dana Bash, the controversial Jennings, who went from tepid on Trump to a full-fledged supporter after he received the 20204 GOP presidential nomination, defended the dismantling of the government.

"If I just may respond to something you said about the bureaucracy," he told CNN analyst Xochitl Hinojosa. "There seems to be, when Republicans are president, that this idea that the bureaucracy and the government should not be responsive to the political leadership of the executive branch. That is totally false."

"It has nothing to do with a loyalty test, but it does have to do with whether or not the unelected bureaucracy is responsive to the political oversight of the government," he added. "Democrats right now do not seem to believe that the president should be able to be the president."

That led Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA) to jump in with, "You should come to my town halls."

He elaborated, "You should come and talk to some of these federal workers, many of them are veterans, in fact, but many of them are very competent. What we're doing is we're prioritizing loyalty over competence."

'It only benefited Vladimir Putin': CNN analyst shuts down Trump Oval Office chaos praise

An impassioned defense of Donald Trump's conduct last Friday where he berated Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky as "disrespectful" and demanded a thank you was swiftly and brutally dismantled on CNN on Sunday morning.

During the panel segment at the end of "State of the Union," former Trump communications adviser Erin Maguire claimed that Elon Musk doing a bang-up job rooting out fraud and waste, while taking heat off Trump, before she moved on to the contentious Oval Office press availability that shocked the world.

According to Maguire, "There needed to be limits to what we were doing with Ukraine, so again, him being the foil there, setting the stage for Trump to be able to say, 'Yeah, actually, that's right. You should be more appreciative about what we've been able to do to help you maintain your sovereignty and fight off the Russians'. So both of these can be great foils for Trump to stand there and cut the deal and make the government small."

'Well, but there is no deal when it comes to Ukraine," CNN commentator Xochitl Hinojosa pointed out.

"Actually the only person, well, the only person who benefited from the outburst on Friday was Vladimir Putin," she added as Maguire smirked. "It did not benefit Ukraine, it did not benefit America, and I know that the White House likes to take a victory lap on that."

Trump advisor complains about Zelensky's 'body language' in defense of Oval Office blowup

Appearing on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday morning, Donald Trump's national security adviser continued the Trump administration's attacks on Volodymyr Zelensky by taking a new approach and complaining about the "body language" of Ukraine's president when he met with the president.

Speaking with host, Dana Bash, Mike Waltz, a former member of the House representing Florida, vociferously defended Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance for how they treated Zelensky after they called him "disrespectful" and demanded he thank them before assembled reporters.

'You know, it wasn't clear to us that President Zelensky was ready to negotiate in good faith towards an end to this war," Waltz accused. "You know, for us, kind of talking about the details and demands of security guarantees before, as President Trump said, 'Look, I don't know that we can get both sides to the table at this point.' And, you know, you can't kind of trash the other side going, you know, litigating through the history of this conflict."

"Coming to the Oval Office, uh, you know, with the body language, the shaking of his head, the, you know, the kind of the arms crossed, uh, we just it we found it incredibly disrespectful," he continued. "We were ready to sign that deal."

Turning to a belief by a multitude of observers that Trump and Vance orchestrated an "ambush" for the TV cameras, Waltz insisted, "I want to address directly that this was some type of ambush. It is absolutely false! We had negotiated the minerals deal in the weeks prior. It was difficult, it was done and finalized and ready to be signed in the East Room."

Trump 'suck-up' Lindsey Graham flattened by conservative on MSNBC for Ukraine flip-flop

Sen. Lindsey Graham's decision to join Donald Trump in bashing Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky after a stunning display of arrogance by Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance got a thorough beat-down on MSNBC on Sunday morning.

During an appearance on MSNBC's "The Weekend," conservative commentator Charlie Sykes called out the South Carolina Republican who is now bashing Zelensky after previously comparing him to Winston Churchill.

In a recent interview, Graham said of the Oval Office meeting, "When a European leader speaks, no bad guy listens. When Trump speaks, everybody is on edge. I was never more proud of President Trump than I was yesterday."

Asked to respond, Sykes told the hosts, "You know, I've given a lot of thought over the years to people like Lindsey Graham and, by the way, John McCain must be so horrified. to see what his friend is doing right now from wherever he is watching this."

"But, you know, you think about people like Lindsey Graham, who I'm sure have been telling themselves over the years that, you know 'I need to suck up to Donald Trump because I need to be in the room. I need to be the adult that stops bad things from happening.' And yet over the last week, what has happened? We have abandoned our allies, we voted with Russia in the United Nations. We humiliated, not just simply berated President Zelensky, but humiliated him in a way that world leaders do not do."

"What happened in the Oval Office has never happened in American history," he added. "No American president has behaved that way in public. Lindsey Graham knows this and yet has decided that he's going to continue his sycophancy."
