Biden warns of a 'great concern' in farewell address

President Joe Biden issued a dire warning to the American people about the coming four years under the next Donald Trump administration, in his farewell address on Wednesday — even as he tried to strike the most optimistic tone he could that America would remain strong after he left.

"I'm so proud of how much we've accomplished together for the American people, and I wish the incoming administration's success because I want America to succeed," said Biden. "That's why I have held my duty to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition of power, to ensure we lead by the power of our example. I have no doubt that America is in a position to continue to succeed."

'Very funny': Billionaire mocked for bemoaning 'broken deal' and ditching Dems for Trump

Pro-Trump billionaire Marc Andreessen sat for an interview with the right-wing Hoover Institution's "Uncommon Knowledge," and explained how he drifted away from the Democratic Party into the MAGA camp over the last few years — even though, in reality, he backed the GOP in presidential campaigns as far back as 2012.

"So the way I describe it is, look, I came up in the 90s, you know ... it was just sort of assumed that if you were in Silicon Valley and high tech in the 90s, it was just assumed, Clinton-Gore heyday. It was just assumed, what I now call 'The Deal,' with a capital D, and no one ever said it out loud, but it was just assumed," said Andreessen.

'Ever hear that?' Report sheds light on Trump's fascination with 'gay national anthem'

For years, President-elect Donald Trump has played the song "Y.M.C.A." by the Village People at his campaign rallies. And now, the Village People will be performing the song at the Republican's second inauguration despite its prominent association with the LGBTQ+ community.

Vanity Fair reported Wednesday on the president-elect's fascination with the Village People's iconic song, which has been consistent since Trump's 2016 campaign for the White House. At first, the Village People — named after one of New York City's most liberal neighborhoods — were hesitant to tell Trump to stop using their song, writing in a 2020 Facebook post that their music is "all-inclusive."

Rapper Drake on Wednesday filed suit against his own label, saying Universal Music Group's release and promotion of a Kendrick Lamar track dissing him amounted to defamation and harassment.

UMG -- which is behind both Drake and Lamar -- adamantly denied the accusations, saying "the notion that we would seek to harm the reputation of any artist -- let alone Drake -- is illogical" given the company's longtime investment in helping him "achieve historic commercial and personal financial success."

Gaza truce bittersweet for Biden as Trump takes credit

The Gaza ceasefire clinched Wednesday was a bittersweet victory for US President Joe Biden days before he hands over the White House to Donald Trump, who claimed credit -- and, most experts say, deserves some.

Biden first proposed the outlines of the deal between Israel and Hamas on May 31 but diplomatic efforts repeatedly came up short, even when Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned in Tel Aviv in August that it may have been the last chance for a deal.

When the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles went up in smoke, Alexander Swedelson lost his apartment, but also a bit of his identity: the flames ravaged the businesses he loved, the trails he ran, and even the place he fished.
