'I will not be deterred!' Letitia James issues warning to Trump after leaving courthouse

New York Attorney General Letitia James issued Trump a warning Friday that she would “not be deterred” or “distracted” after leaving a federal courtroom and pleading not guilty to charges of bank fraud, charges that critics say were politically motivated due to James’ previous spat with President Donald Trump.

James is charged with fraud relating to allegations that she misrepresented her income and assets on a loan document, with the Trump administration launching its criminal probe into James back in May. James previously prosecuted Trump for fraud in 2022, winning a $454 million judgement over allegations that Trump and his real estate company had inflated the value of its assets to receive more favorable loan agreements.

'Grow a spine': 'Everyday Americans' bash ultra-powerful figures who are caving to Trump

A recent report by the Financial Times, by national editor and columnist Edward Luce, revealed that President Donald Trump's "supremacy" is so significant that he has managed to scare some of the most powerful people in America.

"What has changed is simple: people are scared of crossing Trump this time," Luce wrote. "In researching this piece, I interviewed dozens of figures, including lawmakers, private sector executives, retired senior military figures and intelligence chiefs, current and former Trump officials, Washington lawyers and foreign government officials. Such is the fear of jail, bankruptcy or professional reprisal, that most of these people insisted on anonymity. This was in spite of the fact that many of the same people also wanted to emphasise that Trump would only be restrained by powerful voices opposing him publicly. At times, it has felt like trying to report on politics in Turkey or Hungary."

Trump and Vance pressure campaign on key state hits unexpected roadblock

Some Indiana Republicans are resisting the White House pressure campaign to redraw the state's congressional maps in their own favor.

Vice President JD Vance has visited the state twice since August in an effort to force GOP legislators to create new congressional maps in an unusual mid-decade redistricting, as Republicans have done in Texas and other states, but MAGA loyalists haven't been able to whip up enough votes to do President Donald Trump's bidding, reported Talking Points Memo.

'Angriest group of criminal incompetents': Analyst blasts Karoline Leavitt's media 'stunt'

An analyst blasted President Donald Trump's inner circle as the "angriest group of criminal incompetents" and criticized Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt's recent "stunt."

As Trump and his administration work to dismantle the free press — from removing media organizations at the Pentagon with "right-wing fluffers" to attacks on reporters and denying press credentials — it's unclear when it will stop, Salon's White House columnist Brian Karem writes Friday.

Trump admin just made a 'tacit admission' on explosive press leaks: ex-Trump official

A former Trump administration official argued Friday that the lack of investigations into recent leaks to the media from government officials was a “tacit admission” that the leaks were coming directly from Trump’s “top officials,” and as a means to strengthen its legal cases against Trump’s political adversaries.

Trump’s Justice Department has indicted several former and current government officials who at various points had been adversarial with Trump, including former FBI Director James Comey, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and former National Security Advisor John Bolton.

'We need the place to be open!' GOP lawmakers fume as Mike Johnson keeps House on break

Congressional Republicans are fuming over House Speaker Mike Johnson’s insistence that the House remain in recess over the government shutdown fight, complaining that the extended recess is jeopardizing the Senate’s ability to do other “substantive things.”

“The issue is that if we’re gonna do substantive things, like legislation, we can’t just do it in the Senate,” said Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), speaking with NOTUS Thursday on her way to the Senate floor as reported by the outlet Friday. “We need both bodies. So we need the place to be open. We need the House to be functioning.”

'Republicans might get wiped out' because Trump is trapped in a 'bubble': MSNBC panel

A combination of Donald Trump’s obsession with building his White House ballroom and staying out of the government shutdown impasse while withholding funds from battleground states, is setting the Republican Party up for a fall in next year's midterms, analysts say.

According to the members of an MSNBC panel on Friday morning, Oval Office insiders are claiming the president is “super distracted” and seems to have no idea that he is placing his party in peril as polls show Democrats gaining more and more support.
