Tom Homan, President Donald Trump’s border czar, issued a cryptic message Saturday that appeared to suggest Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) may be facing investigation for matters outside of her immigration status.
Omar’s home was raided by federal agents this week as part of a criminal investigation, and while officials did not provide additional details, reporting suggests it was related to her immigration status. While Omar is a U.S. citizen, Trump has previously alleged, without evidence, that she was in the country “illegally” and said she should be thrown “the hell out.”
Appearing on Fox News’ “The Big Weekend Show,” Homan was asked about the criminal probe point-blank.
“Tom, is this simply an immigration fraud investigation, or do you have, or does the federal government have reason to investigate any other type of wrongdoing?” a Fox News host asked.
Homan paused for a moment, appearing to be in thought before starting to grin.
“I’m not gonna go there,” Homan said, still grinning.
The Fox News host pressed Homan again, asking, “Not even a little bit?” “Not even a little bit. I know things, but that’s a question for the FBI,” Homan said.
The host pressed Homan again, asking, “Would it have to do with anything that happened in Minnesota?”
A grinning Homan again deflected, telling the host, “That’s a question for the FBI.”
Fox News’ Johnny Joey Jones suggested Homan, without saying anything, had said “plenty.”
“All right, I think you’ve said plenty without saying anything,” Jones said, sparking laughter from the entire panel, including Homan.
