Court documents revealed Playboy magazine's founder and former Editor-in-Chief, Hugh Hefner, reported Jeffrey Epstein to the FBI and notified authorities that a Playmate had been sexually abused and trafficked by the financier.
Former Playboy Playmate Audra Christiansen told Hefner in 2005 she was an Epstein survivor and asked him to contact the FBI, hoping authorities would be more receptive to his call, NewsNation reported.
Miami Herald reporter Julie K. Brow reported on the legal complaint filed by 34 Epstein survivors in her Substack.
The complaint against the United States in the Southern District of Florida alleges the FBI "violated mandatory policies and protocols" and "created a foreseeable zone of risk to future victims" by failing to investigate Christiansen's allegations, according to NewsNation.
"For about fifteen years, the FBI did not investigate Ms. Christiansen’s tips or follow up on her allegations," according to court documents.
Christiansen did not hear from the bureau until October 2020.
Court records state Christiansen was "raped by Epstein" and "trafficked for 10 years."
"And 'failing to investigate credible tips, such as Ms. Christiansen’s allegations, the FBI created a foreseeable zone of risk to future victims of Epstein’s sex trafficking enterprise, including Plaintiffs,' " NewsNation reported.
