Joe Biden

Biden had to be an Erdogan whisperer. But then came Zelensky

Joe Biden already had his work cut out to prevent Turkey from spoiling the NATO summit. What wasn't expected was that Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky would be the one casting an even bigger cloud -- and testing the US president's diplomatic powers in real time.

Biden has celebrated what he calls unprecedented Western unity in support of Ukraine and NATO as one of the main achievements of his first term.

Michigan secretary of state interviewed by Jack Smith: report

Democratic Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson was interviewed by United States Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith's office "for several hours" amid the criminal investigation into the scheme to reverse the results of the 2020 election, CNN's Zachary Cohen exclusively reported on Wednesday.

Benson's conversation with Smith's lieutenants "marks yet another recent meeting between prosecutors and officials from key battleground states that were targeted by former President Donald Trump and his allies as part of their bid to upend Joe Biden's legitimate victory in the 2020 presidential election," Cohen learned from people "familiar with the matter."

Conservative: Biden economy bad news for the GOP in 2024 'if the trend line continues'

Republicans were eager to attack President Joe Biden on the economy during last year's midterms, but the outlook has changed dramatically since then. The newest figures show inflation plummeting to 3 percent on an annual basis, barely above Federal Reserve targets, all while the economy continues to add huge amounts of new jobs, raising the possibility the U.S. could avoid a recession while trying to bring prices back under control.

Jonah Goldberg, conservative pundit and editor-in-chief of The Dispatch, told CNN that if this economic climate persists, it could be great news for Biden in 2024 — and a huge problem for the GOP.

BLM 'actually hurt people': Republican says J6 riots did nothing — so Trump impeachment should be gone

WASHINGTON — Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) doesn't understand why former President Donald Trump was impeached for the Jan. 6 attacks and the attempt to overthrow the 2020 election. Speaking to Raw Story on Wednesday, she implied that no one got hurt as a result of Jan. 6 or due to Trump's actions.

"Um, so, I think based on what happened with the [John] Durham report and the information that we're finding out now — as you know, I led out the censure effort against [Rep.] Adam Schiff (D-CA) — you know, when you have a sitting president that — now that the facts have come out, was very much so politically targeted, and then had this egregious campaign run against him for years, I think it's important for history to reflect that it was not accurate."

GOP's obsession with Biden's age is all they have left — and it could backfire: Molly Jong-Fast

Many of the hot-button issues Republicans were hoping to use against President Joe Biden have crumbled away. Inflation is down to 3 percent. Crime rates are plunging. Even the border situation has improved dramatically; entries have dropped 70 percent since the rescission of the emergency order allowing summary migrant expulsions. And abortion, historically a strong culture war motivator for Republicans, has now been turned on them as the end of Roe v. Wade has pushed suburban voters to the polls.

That leaves Republicans with just one thing to talk about: Biden's age. But that isn't a solid plan for beating him, wrote reporter Molly Jong-Fast for Vanity Fair.

‘They pump him up’: Trump pushes new claim Biden ‘on cocaine’ to give speeches

The discovery of a small container of cocaine at the White House sparked a flurry of right-wing conspiracy theories — many being promulgated by Donald Trump himself.

The former president first graduated from claiming that it might have belonged to Hunter Biden — who has struggled with substance abuse previously but was at Camp David when the bag was most likely dropped — to special counsel Jack Smith, even saying he "looks like a crackhead." Then Trump started claiming President Joe Biden himself was "probably" on drugs — and took it one step further in an interview with far-right talk radio host Wayne Allyn Root on Wednesday, suggesting, with absolutely no evidence, that Biden is given cocaine by his staffers to keep him alert enough to give speeches.

DeSantis donors growing worried as his campaign flounders: report

Donors who support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in his 2024 presidential bid are growing increasingly worried about his prospects in light of recent poor polling and campaign blunders, CNBC reported.

Pro-Trump elections group hit with lawsuit for failing to provide evidence of fraud claim: report

The Georgia State Election Board has filed a lawsuit against a right-wing group claiming to promote election integrity over its refusal to share evidence backing conspiracy theory-fueled allegations depicted in the film “2000 Mules,” according to a published report.

The State Election Board filed the lawsuit against True the Vote Tuesday in an effort to compel the Texas-based group to share evidence that supports the group’s unsubstantiated allegations of impropriety in the 2020 presidential election, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Brian Kemp's image as moderate Trump alternative brutally savaged by hometown newspaper

With former President Donald Trump pulling into a clear lead as the Republican nominee, calls from within the party are growing to draft a candidate who could appeal to moderates in a general election.

Among the biggest names floated that some believe can reach the middle without alienating the base is Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R), who famously stood up to Trump in 2020 when the former president tried to overturn the results of the state’s election he lost to Joe Biden.

These wealthy megadonors are supporting DeSantis and RFK Jr. at the same time: report

Supporters of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' presidential campaign continue to hope that he will pull ahead of former President Donald Trump in the 2024 GOP primary, but so far, that isn't happening. An Economist/YouGov poll released on July 12 shows DeSantis trailing Trump by 26 percent.

That poll is hardly an anomaly. A Fox News poll from late June found Trump with a 34 percent lead over DeSantis.

No Labels may have chosen its candidate for a third party presidential bid: report

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) is sparking speculation about a potential third-party 2024 run due to his planned headlining of an event in New Hampshire sponsored by the bipartisan group No Labels, The Washington Post reported Wednesday.

No Labels is an organization set up to explore launching a challenge on Trump outside the existing party lines. Democrats are worried No Labels's actions would hurt the chances of President Joe Biden rather than Trump.

'Shocking breach': probe shows tax prep companies shared personal data with tech giants

After a seven-month investigation, a group of congressional Democrats and Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders released a bombshell report Wednesday showing that private tax prep firms have been secretly sharing U.S. taxpayers' sensitive personal information with tech giants for years, a practice that the lawmakers condemned as outrageous and possibly illegal.

The report, spearheaded by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) in the Senate and Rep. Katie Porter (D-Calif.) in the House, notes that TaxAct, H&R Block, and TaxSlayer "used computer code—known as pixels—to send data to Meta and Google." The lawmakers' investigation was sparked by recent reportingin The Markup.

'I love freedom because Jesus': Lauren Boebert says being a Christian makes her 'truly' qualified

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) said this week that she is "truly" qualified to preserve U.S. freedoms because she is a Christian.

"My number one job is to secure the rights of Americans and make sure that they remain free. That is exactly why I'm here," Boebert told the Christian program Flashpoint on Tuesday. "I love freedom, not because I'm a Republican, not because I'm a conservative. I love freedom because Jesus set me free because I am a Christian."
