Trump promises U.S. green card for foreign graduates

Donald Trump said he wants to grant green cards to foreign graduates from US colleges, in an apparent softening of his typically hard-line view on immigration, a key election issue.

The Republican candidate made the remarks in a podcast published Thursday, days after President Joe Biden announced a citizenship pathway for immigrants married to US nationals, counterbalancing his recent crackdown on illegal border crossings.

New tensions between White House, Israeli PM

New tensions emerged this week between President Joe Biden's administration and Benjamin Netanyahu over the Israeli premier's criticism of US weapons deliveries -- comments the White House described Thursday as "vexing" and "disappointing."

The issue began when Netanyahu claimed in a video posted on social media earlier this week that the US administration -- Israel's main military backer -- has been "withholding weapons and ammunitions" from his country in recent months.

Maine GOP candidate pushes Sandy Hook, QAnon conspiracies — and that's just for starters

A Republican legislative candidate who has amplified the global QAnon conspiracy movement, shares memes comparing President Joe Biden to Nazis, and has said she still has questions about the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, stands by her belief that people can say and believe what they want.

Wendy Lee MacDowell is running against incumbent Democrat William Bridgeo for House District 60, which covers part of Augusta, in the November general election. Though both candidates were uncontested in the primary election, MacDowell said she believes voters should have choices and no candidate should run unopposed.

Trump cashes in on legal woes as GOP decimates Biden's massive fundraising lead

Donald Trump's trial and eventual conviction on dozens of felony counts in his hush money case didn't hamstring the former president's fundraising efforts, instead proving a boon for him and the party — and shrinking President Joe Biden's fundraising lead as the two head into a key first debate next week.

Newspaper runs anti-Biden advertorial — with racial slurs

The publisher for the Miami New Times is offering a mea culpa after the newspaper printed a lengthy "advertorial" attacking President Joe Biden, which used the N-word, Axios reported on Thursday.

"Miami New Times publisher Adam Simon tells Axios the ad is unacceptable and he's changing the alt weekly's ad review process," reported Martin Vassolo. "Normally, he said, staffers — including himself — review ads prior to publication. But in this case, the ad came in past their deadline and Simon did not review it. The New Times will no longer take ads so late that they can't be reviewed, he said. 'Naturally, had I seen it, which I should have, I would not have let it run as is.'"

Fox News host mocked for 'mental gymnastics' in excusing incoherent Trump rants

Former President Donald Trump is receiving increased scrutiny over his own mental stumbles as his surrogates try to keep President Joe Biden's age a salient campaign issue — with Trump's speech in Racine, Wisconsin, in particular highlighting his bizarre ramblings, claiming Biden's new executive order is "granting mass thinkit" and getting the name of the doctor who supposedly told him he "aced" his cognitive exam wrong.

But to hear it from Fox News host Brian Kilmeade on Thursday, that's nothing to worry about — the former president is doing it on purpose just for entertainment value.
