Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) is now facing calls for his resignation from a broad coalition of faith leaders in his home state of Missouri.

Local news station KMOV reports that a group called Missouri Faith Voices is asking Hawley to step down for his role in encouraging the pro-Trump rioters who stormed the United States Capitol building on January 6th.

"As an opportunist, Josh Hawley has shown us he will do anything," Rabbi Susan Talve, one of the group's organizers, tells KMOV. "He will sell his soul for his own self-serving interest."

Reverend Dr. Cassandra Gould went a step further and asked people outside of Missouri to call up their senators and ask them to support Hawley's expulsion.

"Missouri can't afford this," she said. "Black people can't afford this. My grandchildren can't afford this!"

Hawley and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) have both faced calls to resign after they led the effort in the Senate to block the certification of President Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 election and refused to back down even after pro-Trump rioters sacked the Capitol.
