Lauren Boebert rages at bombshell $200K staffer sex complaint: 'Filthy garbage'

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) lashed out at reporters on Sunday for covering a recently released sworn complaint that made bombshell accusations against her.

The House Ethics Committee recently received a complaint that accused Boebert of maintaining a sexual relationship with her district director, Clarice Navarro Ratzlaff, and then allegedly paying her $200,000 to keep quiet once Ratzlaff threatened to file an ethics complaint. David Wheeler of American Muckrakers filed the complaint and included evidence from "House payroll records, Federal Election Commission filings, court records, and ... sources," according to Wheeler's Substack. Similar allegations were made about two other aides in the complaint.

Boebert denied the allegations on Saturday, and Ratzlaff described them as "entirely false, defamatory, and beyond ridiculous." Boebert's ex-husband, Jayson Boebert, also disputed the claims, saying they came from "bad sources."

RawStory has not independently verified the claims made in the complaint.

Boebert responded to the complaint in a new video posted Sunday on X. She described the allegations as a "smear" perpetuated by a "left-wing hack."

"No member of Congress certified in writing that his salacious attack was made in good faith to review, as required by [the Ethics committee]," she said. "And it's evident that you did not even bother to look up House Ethics Committee rules that clearly state that the committee can't accept new complaints within 60 days of an election. That's right, Ethics isn't even allowed to accept this garbage."

Boebert also claimed that her staff members had been "under attack" since news about the complaint broke last week.

"This is more filthy garbage that reaches beyond me, into the homes of people who have dedicated years of service to Coloradans alongside of me," she added. "I know that you're more than willing to attack me and shame my household, but this is different and you crossed a line."
