Former Rep. Denver Riggleman (R-VA) on Friday ripped his party's leadership for not doing enough to stop QAnon-loving Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) from getting elected.
During an interview about Greene's support of multiple bizarre conspiracy theories -- including one claiming that California forest fires were started by a giant space laser -- Riggleman said it was time for people to stop describing her as a "firebrand" when she's something much more sinister.
"People keep calling her a firebrand -- I don't know if firebrand is a synonym for unstable, but that's the issue that we have," he said. "We have videos that she's put out there that we can define as unstable."
Riggleman then compared her to former Rep. Steve King (R-IA), the notoriously racist former congressman who was stripped of his committee assignments after he questioned why white supremacy was such a controversial idea.
Even though King's statements were indeed extreme, Riggleman argued that Greene's talk about the Rothschilds funding a space laser to destroy California's forests were even more off the deep end than anything King ever said.
"I look at Steve King, and what she's done is so much worse," he said. "You talk about the Rothschilds -- it's also the baseline for the QAnon theory for harvesting babies. Same exact thing: Jewish blood libel. And that's what we're looking at, people knew they were getting."
