Security footage taken on Jan. 6 as a pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol building shows a Capitol police officer escort Sen. Mitt Romney to safety, redirecting a path he was on that would have led him directly to the rioters, according to HuffPost's Philip Lewis.

"Eugene Goodman ran into Mitt Romney in the hallway and told him to turn around and get to safety, as the mob entered the building, in new footage," Lewis wrote in a tweet that shared the footage. "Romney was going to run DIRECTLY into the rioters."

Goodman was the officer who also led the attackers away from the Senate chamber and feet away from where Vice President Mike Pence was being hidden.
