MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace loses cool during ICE raid report
MSNBC may have bleeped a woman who watched children being zip-tied and arrested by federal agents when they raided an entire apartment complex, but host Nicolle Wallace didn't.
At the top of her second hour, Wallace addressed the operation in which around 300 federal agents broke down doors and even dropped in via Black Hawk helicopters.
One neighbor filmed the scene as the feds set off flashbangs.
"They were terrified. The kids were crying. People were screaming. They looked very distraught. I was out there crying when I seen the little girl come around the corner, because they were bringing the kids out too. Had them zip-tied to each other. That's all I kept asking. What is the morality? Where's the human? That's one of them literally laughed. He was standing right here. He said f--- them kids," said Eboni Watson in an interview with ABC7.
"F--- the kids," Wallace said, not sanitizing the language from the federal officers.
In the five-story building, 37 people were arrested, but every person in the building was taken into custody by the agents and zip-tied for over three hours. There are four children in custody despite being American citizens.
The Trump government filmed the ordeal, and it is assumed the video will become part of a propaganda video.
"Illinois is not a photo opportunity or warzone. It's a sovereign state where our people deserve rights, respect and answers," Gov. J.B. Pritzker said in a statement.
The ACLU of Illinois communications director, Ed Yohnka, told Wallace it was a "full-fledged military operation" and the apartment complex was "literally invaded."
"People were dragged out in the middle of the night, as, you indicated, zip tied, put into rental vans and driven off, only to be released later. There's no evidence that anybody here was in any way, shape, or form dangerous, nor that anybody here posed any risk to public safety in Chicago or elsewhere," said Yohnka. "But you'll notice. As you've indicated, there were lots of cameras around that. That ICE was there ready to take video and to make this a social media spectacular."
He noted that some of those who were zip-tied asked for a lawyer and requested to see the warrant, which gave them the right to break down their doors. They never received either.
Yohnka also said that they have no idea where the children who were taken are or if they're safe.
The raid was part of President Donald Trump's ongoing efforts to take over cities run by Democrats, claiming that they are "war zones" and have out-of-control crime. Other cities like Memphis and St. Louis, both in red states, have a higher crime rate than Chicago, Newsweek reported.
Protesters in Chicago have been attacked and maced by the federal agents.
