Enraged Trump threatens banks trying to 'undermine' his agenda

President Donald Trump had a searing response Tuesday to the banking industry, saying that banks were trying to "undermine" controversial legislation he has touted.

Trump has pushed the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins, also known as the GENIUS Act. The bill seeks to create a legal framework for stablecoins, or digital assets whose value is tied to a physical asset like fiat currency or gold. It has support from the crypto industry, which considers the bill an important step toward mainstreaming digital assets.

John Roberts' 'grimace' of misery flagged by court watchers: 'He looked awful'

Supreme Court insiders were abuzz after Chief Justice John Roberts showed up to President Donald Trump's State of the Union address looking absolutely miserable.

During a roundtable discussion about covering the increasingly politicized Supreme Court, NPR's veteran court correspondent Nina Totenberg observed: "The Chief looked so awful at the State of the Union. I’ve never seen him scowl or have a furrowed brow like that for so long. Do any of you have any sense of why? He’s usually a pretty cool cat. He doesn’t show much. But he certainly didn’t look happy to me."

Supreme Court unveils 2 significant shadow docket decisions

On Monday, the Supreme Court handed down two significant and consequential emergency orders through the so-called "shadow docket," issuing a pair of rulings that largely handed victories to Republicans and conservative activists. In one ruling, they granted an emergency appeal to religious parents suing California to force schools to disclose gender identity information their children chose to keep confidential. Justice Elena Kagan issued a blistering dissent, calling out her conservative colleagues. The other decision, reported by Punchbowl News' Ally Mutnick, pauses a decision by state courts in New York to require a redraw of the only Republican-leaning congressional district in New York City. This decision ensures the redraw won't take place, or at least cannot be used, until after the 2026 midterms, and throws a lifeline to Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, who would have been all but doomed had the redraw moved forward this year.

Expert taken aback as Supreme Court conservatives and liberals 'unite' for puzzling case

A legal expert was surprised on Tuesday after the Supreme Court seemed to be "united" in a puzzling case.

On Monday, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in United States v. Hemani, which challenges a federal statute that bars people who admit to using illegal drugs from owning a gun. Earlier this year, the Fifth Circuit struck down the law, finding that it was being unconstitutionally applied to recreational drug users like Hemani, who had previously admitted to using marijuana regularly.

Trump 'counting on' one trick to 'win' in Iran: biographer

President Donald Trump seems to be "counting on" one of his oldest tricks to "win" his new war in Iran, according to one of his biographers.

Throughout his career, Trump has sought to portray himself as a fighter who wins whatever battle he enters, journalist Michael Wolff, who has written four books about Trump, argued in a new op-ed for The Daily Beast on Monday. Trump appears to be trying the same thing in Iran, but doing so could be costly, Wolff continued.

'He's doomed': Legendary strategist warns Texas senator should prepare for primary defeat

Democratic campaign strategist Chuck Rocha doesn't think Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) has a path to keeping his seat in the GOP primary on Tuesday night — and walked through the math with MS NOW's Katy Tur on why he thinks he's a dead man walking.

Cornyn has fought his way through a vicious primary that includes state Attorney General Ken Paxton and U.S. Rep. Wesley Hunt. The latter two portray Cornyn as insufficiently loyal to President Donald Trump, who has refused to make an endorsement in the race.

Military group deluged in complaints as Armageddon views pushed on troops

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation, or MRFF, has received over 110 complaints from service members across all military branches regarding commanders promoting apocalyptic Christian theology surrounding the Iran war. Complaints came from more than 40 units at 30+ military installations between Saturday and Monday. One commander told non-commissioned officers the war was "part of God's divine plan," citing the Book of Revelation and claiming President Trump was "anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon." MRFF President Mikey Weinstein noted commanders expressed "unrestricted euphoria" about the conflict fulfilling fundamentalist Christian End Times prophecy. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has elevated Christian nationalism theology within the military and attends White House Bible studies led by pastor Ralph Drollinger, who teaches that supporting Israel is biblically mandated.

Rubio whines Dems won't like his answers at Iran presser: 'They're going to criticize!'

Secretary of State Marco Rubio pre-emptively complained about the fact that congressional Democrats probably won't like the answers he's giving, during a press conference on the Trump administration's attack against Iran on Tuesday afternoon.

"Listen, let me explain to you guys this in simple English, okay?" said Rubio. "Iran is run by lunatics, religious fanatic lunatics. They have an ambition to have nuclear weapons. They intend to develop those nuclear weapons behind a program of missiles and drones and terrorism, that the world will not be able to touch them for fear of those things. And this is the weakest they've ever been. Now is the time to go after them."
