Glenn Beck releases video spoofing 'Anonymous'
Former Fox News host Glenn Beck released a video on his website Tuesday that imitates the hacktivist collective "Anonymous" and warns that the nation has succumb to evil.
The video, entitled “Anonymous for Good,” is meant to publicize Beck's new charitable organization, according to Mediaite.
Like the other videos released in the name of "Anonymous," Beck's video contains a imitation of the group’s logo and is narrated by a computerized voice.
"This is a message from goodness We have been watching what has been going on for far too long. We have been silent. We have been complacent. Meanwhile, evil has had its way in this country and throughout the world. When evil thrived in the political arena, we looked the other way," the video states.
"When it invaded our schools, ended prayer, replaced discipline, humiliated our children made them unsafe, and fed them lies. When it took over the media we would not believe, when it entered our churches and perverted the doctrine, we ignored it. Then when it slipped into our homes and destroyed our families, we tolerated, then accepted, then embraced it. We were wrong. We have been asleep. We have been in hiding. But now it is time to act. As the darkness grows, so do we. We are waking up. We are taking action. We will no longer sit idly by as our families, communities, cities, states, and our nation are torn apart. We will no longer tolerate the spread of darkness over our land and our planet. It is time to shine the light. It is time to take a stand. We are goodness. We are random acts of kindness. We are everywhere. Expect us."
On Tuesday, "Anonymous" took credit for knocking a site cyber security offline that was managed by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC.)
The group also claimed this past weekend that they were behind an attack that deleted the whole CBS News website, taking one of the nation’s largest corporate news outfits offline completely. They also took credit on Monday for hacking the Twitter account of Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), then posting messages correcting his grammar and highlighting his support for the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA).
The hacker collective has been targeting European governments for their support of the forthcoming Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA).
