President Donald Trump lashed out at a reporter Monday and criticized U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro after she dismissed a felony vandalism case against Olympic canoeist David Hearn.
"You're fake news. One of the worst in the business. Fortunately, nobody watches you," Trump snapped.
On Friday, Pirro attributed the Reflecting Pool's damage to "flawed installation by the contractor," according to ABC News.
Trump spent weeks claiming vandals damaged his $16 million pool renovation, per ABC News, insisting Monday surveillance footage showed people cutting the liner with a box knife. However, Pirro's filing revealed a National Park Service engineer flagged peeling damage on June 11, eight days before Hearn's visit.
Additionally, a government witness could not attribute damage to the Olympian.
"Frankly, I think she choked, because the judge was really vicious. Instead of going after the people that did it, the judge went after her and went after her department, and I guess she choked," Trump said.
Trump added he was disappointed with Pirro, and claimed she "folded like an umbrella."
CNN reported Trump fumed all weekend; sources indicated her firing was "highly likely" after he was "blindsided" by her motion.
Pirro's record includes nearly a dozen gun cases dismissed as unconstitutional and a 50 percent win rate in 2026 trials. Hearn's attorney indicated potential legal action.
