‘Head on a platter’: Dems smell blood as they circle a Trump Cabinet member

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s days of friendly oversight are over, and one Democratic PAC chief is already promising a reckoning.

After Tuesday’s sweep handed Democrats control of the House and Senate, some in the party plan to drive the health secretary from office by grilling him in hearings, subpoenaing him and his staff and even impeaching him, Politico reported Thursday.

“We’re going to see RFK Jr.’s head on a platter,” said Erik Polyak, executive director of 314 Action, a PAC that spent more than $30 million helping Democrats this cycle.

Polyak said going after Kennedy had become the PAC’s top fundraising tool, and that Democrats would investigate every conflict of interest tied to him.

His friends on Capitol Hill are dwindling fast, as Sen. Roger Marshall of Kansas, chair of the MAHA Caucus, lost to Democrat Adam Hamilton, a Methodist megachurch pastor. Kansas last elected a Democrat to the Senate in 1932, CBS News noted.

In Texas, Ken Paxton, praised by MAHA supporters for probing food, chemical and drug companies, lost his Senate bid to Democrat James Talarico, even though Republicans poured more than $280 million into advertising, including over $200 million from Elon Musk.

In Iowa, Zach Lahn, the governor candidate Kennedy and MAHA groups spent the most to elect, lost. So did GOP Reps. Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Zach Nunn, both of whom Kennedy had sought to help. Rep. Ashley Hinson lost her Senate bid.

Of 21 federal candidates endorsed by MAHA groups, 12 lost, seven won and two races remain undeclared. All but one winner ran in an uncompetitive race.

Parts of the movement had already turned on Kennedy before Election Day, and Calley Means, a top Kennedy adviser, quit the administration last month. Now some loyalists are blaming Trump for the losses, pointing to his February executive order protecting glyphosate, a weedkiller MAHA supporters say causes cancer.

“The honeymoon period came to an end some time ago,” Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo said on a Wednesday call with supporters.

The money fell far short, too. Tony Lyons, who runs MAHA’s network of nonprofits and PACs, pledged in March to raise $100 million for Republicans aligned with the movement. Federal filings show his MAHA PAC spent a little over $1 million on federal races, with about $209,000 reaching competitive contests by the end of October.

Lyons has since challenged Democrats to work with Kennedy rather than impeach him. A Health Department spokesperson said Kennedy will keep delivering Trump’s MAHA agenda.
