'Couldn't have come at a worse time': Analyst says Colorado ruling has Trump foes reeling

When the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that former President Donald Trump is ineligible for the state's 2024 Republican presidential primary ballot, the other candidates were quick to rush to his defense.

The justices, in a 4-3 decision, ruled that he is disqualified from running for president in the state under Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution's 14th Amendment. Section 3 states that an "officer" who has engaged in "insurrection" cannot run for office, and the justices believe he did that when he tried to overturn the 2020 presidential election results despite the fact that now-President Joe Biden clearly won.

Fox News hosts: ‘Left’ wants to foment ‘violence’ and ‘civil unrest’ with Colorado ruling

Two of Fox News' top hosts are suggesting "the left" and "Democrat politicians" are trying to foment "violence" and "civil unrest," by using as a catalyst the Colorado Supreme Court's Tuesday ruling that found because he engaged in insurrection, the U.S. Constitution prohibits Donald Trump from serving as President.

Fox News host Jesse Watters Wednesday night in a lengthy segment (video below) declared the Colorado ruling was a "judicial assassination," "voter elimination," a "legal coup" by "some unelected judge," and that "four Democrats in robes stole your vote." He later posted the photos of the four justices.

See 10 pieces of classic literature banned from schools in a Florida county

A law often touted by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis that restricts the kinds of books that can be available in public schools has led teachers in the state's Orange County to remove hundreds of books from their shelves — including some that are widely considered literary classics.

The Orlando Sentinel has compiled a list of all 673 books pulled from the shelves in the county, and it shows that Florida's law resulted in the removal of books that go well beyond often-targeted titles such as "Gender Queer" by author Maia Kobabe.

Why Supreme Court justices would be 'fools' to reverse Colorado ruling: columnist

The Supreme Court should uphold the Colorado case disqualifying former President Donald Trump from running again under the 14th Amendment, wrote Amanda Marcotte for Salon — not just because it is the constitutionally correct decision, but because it's one that ultimately benefits the Republican Party.

"The reality is we're facing a situation never seen before in the United States," wrote Marcotte. "A shameless insurrectionist is running for president while under 91 felony indictments. To add to this historic situation, the Colorado Supreme Court on Tuesday banned Trump from appearing on the state's Republican presidential primary ballot. The 4-3 decision follows the clear language of the Constitution's 14th Amendment barring those who 'have engaged in insurrection' from running for office."

To respond to migrants, Florida sought weapons training for special State Guard unit

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A select group of volunteers expected to help Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis intercept migrants at sea gathered at a Panhandle combat training facility this fall for lessons on how to use rifles and pistols, treat “massive hemorrhages” and practice “aerial gunnery.” The training sessions, authorized this summer following a surge in migrant arrivals by boat to the Keys, mostly from Cuba and Haiti, were for a specialized unit of the Florida State Guard, revived last year by the Florida Legislature. The unit that received the training has the power to make arrests and carry weapons...
