Harris praised for 'killing Trump with condescension' after response to 'meltdown'

Vice President Kamala Harris' 2024 presidential campaign issued a scathing rebuke of Donald Trump's Thursday press conference — which was mostly an hourlong rant from the former president consisting of numerous jabs at his opponent and countless false claims.

USA Today White House correspondent Joey Garrison shared screenshots of a press release distributed by the Harris-Walz campaign, writing: "Harris campaign with a lengthy response to Trump’s 'very good, very normal press conference.'"

'It's unfair': Trump reportedly lashing out at his own campaign staff in calls to friends

Vice President Kamala Harris' ascension to the top spot on the Democratic ticket has Donald Trump snarling about his own campaign staff in calls to close allies, according to a report from the Washington Post.

As the Democrats' presidential nominee's campaign has roared to life, abetted by the selection of folksy Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), the former president's own campaign now appears fractured as his inner circle seems unsure about how to go after Harris and her running mate.

Adding to the behind-the-scenes chaos is Trump himself who is furious that he now has to face the V.P. instead of Biden and is pointing fingers everywhere at the same time he is staying off the campaign trial.

"Trump now finds himself back in a dead-even contest and with new signs of strain in his orbit. In the face of new Democratic momentum, he has grown increasingly upset about Harris’s surging poll numbers and media coverage since replacing Biden on the ticket, complaining relentlessly and asking friends about how his campaign is performing, according to five people close to the campaign," the Post reported before adding, "Friends, Mar-a-Lago members and donors have logged their concerns with Trump, who then tells them to others, according to three people close to him. U.S. Senate allies and others are trying to get Trump focused on attacking Harris."

The report notes that in a recent phone call to an ally, he complained, “It’s unfair that I beat him [Joe Biden] and now I have to beat her, too."

The report goes on to note that, for the first time, Trump's campaign is back on its heels, pointing out, "It has left people close to the campaign wondering why Trump and his team seemed ill-prepared."

According to longtime GOP strategist Kevin Madden, "What’s happened in the last couple of weeks is we actually have a real race. This is a real presidential campaign. The Biden-Trump version of this was one event a week by each candidate, very rarely on the campaign trail and no real engagement. Now this is going to be one of those campaigns where strategies matter, resources matter, time matters, and there is not much room for error.”

'I think this settles it': Vance busted over resurfaced post jabbing 'undisputed war hero'

A two-year-old social media post written by Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) resurfaced on Wednesday, and it's not helping his campaign for vice president.

During his candidacy for the Senate in 2022, the Ohio lawmaker appeared on the right-wing Real America's Voice Network, where he discussed his stance on Ukraine's fight against Russian aggression. He said: "I think it’s ridiculous that we are focused on this border in Ukraine. I got to be honest with you, I don’t really care what happens to Ukraine one way or the other."

'I lose Minnesota, I'm never coming back': Trump comments resurface as Walz gets VP nod

Donald Trump's long-shot hopes for winning Minnesota appear to have dimmed even further with the selection of the state's Gov. Tim Walz as Kamala Harris' running mate.

The former president has been fixated on expanding the map in November's general election, and Politico resurfaced a report from May showing that Trump remains bitter that he lost Minnesota although he campaigned there three months ago, during a break from his hush money trial, in an effort to flip the Midwestern state.

Max Flugrath, director of communications for Fair Fight Action, a voting rights advocacy organization, on Sunday highlighted Trump's rally, which Flugrath described as "lie-riddled" and even "rambling." He said it included "all the usual hits," including election conspiracies and attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris.

'Politically stupid': GOP leaders warn 'Trump may have just lost Georgia'

Donald Trump's attacks on Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger during his Atlanta rally Saturday were not new. The former president, ex-Georgia GOP chairman David Shafer, and MAGA allies have long blamed the two Republican leaders for Trump's 2020 loss in the state.

Not only did Trump claim Kemp and Raffensperger are "doing everything possible to make 2024 difficult for Republicans to win," but the MAGA hopeful also attacked the governor — who has still vowed to back the ex-president in November — via social media, calling Kemp a "bad guy" for refusing to overturn the election.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Greg Bluestein reported Sunday that Trump's attacks on Georgia state leaders during his rally "reopened festering internal wounds within the Georgia GOP and left fellow Republicans baffled and seething at the timing of his tirade."

'Why 2024 may be Trump’s undoing': longtime political observer

In a report published by the Pew Research Center on July 11 titled, "Amid Doubts About Biden’s Mental Sharpness, Trump Leads Presidential Race," the Washington, DC-based think tank noted that after President Joe Biden's disastrous debate performance in June, Donald Trump enjoyed a "4 percentage point lead over Biden among registered voters."

A week earlier, The New York Times reported, "Mr. Trump now leads Mr. Biden 49 percent to 43 percent among likely voters nationally, a three-point swing toward the Republican from just a week earlier, before the debate. It is the largest lead Mr. Trump has recorded in a Times/Siena poll since 2015."
