Trump was obsessed with theory that he'd return to White House within a year of loss: book

According to an upcoming book by ABC News' Jonathan Karl, Donald Trump believed a fraudulent conspiracy theory pushed by MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell that claimed he could be reinstated as president before the 2024 election, Rolling Stone reported.

Lindell disseminated the claim that Trump could be back in power by Aug. 13, 2021, saying he could prove that the 2020 election was hacked by the Chinese. According to Rolling Stone's report, in the months after he left office, Trump became so obsessed with the theory that some of his advisers grew increasingly worried he would pin all his hopes on it.

Donald Trump has made very clear that he intends to have the Department of Justice do his bidding if he wins a second term as president — and a variety of experts believe he would face little opposition to doing so.

Sen Tim Scott's surprise announcement on Fox News late Sunday that he is suspending his moribund bid to be the Republican Party's 2024 presidential nominee was greeted by shock from his staffers — and no small amount of amusement by critics of the South Carolina Republican.

Appearing with former Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) Scott, who trailed far behind Donald Trump in the polls and never moved the needle despite months of campaigning, told Gowdy, "When I go back to Iowa it will not be as a presidential candidate. The voters, who are the most remarkable people on the planet … They’re telling me, ‘Not now, Tim.’ I don’t think they’re saying, Trey, ‘no,’ but I do think they’re saying, ‘not now.’”

MAGA-backing state GOP parties now being torn apart by infighting and money woes: report

Republican parties in 2024 battleground states are plagued with infighting and fundraising woes — some due to the legal costs incurred by attempts to overturn Donald Trump's 2020 election loss, The Washington Post reported Monday.

“There has been an emphasis on ideological cleansing instead of electioneering,” said former Georgia GOP chairman John Watson. “If those new entrants to the party want to argue the earth is flat and the election is stolen, those are counterproductive to winning elections.”
