'I didn't ask that!' Democrat snaps as Secret Service director dodges question
U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle faced an angry House Oversight and Reform Committee on Monday, with both parties demanding answers to failures during the assassination attempt on Donald Trump.
Among those bombarding Cheatle with questions was Virginia Democrat, Rep. Gerry Connolly,
He pointed out the "incredible daily risk" that agents take, adding that while all law enforcement agents face the possibility of injury, the Secret Service is the one branch tasked with using agents' bodies as a shield from attacks on the protected.

He then began to hammer Cheatle with questions about whether the availability of guns made her job easier or more difficult.
"There are some things my friends on one particular side of the aisle don't want to talk about, like AR-15s and access to them by a 20-year-old or anybody for that matter," he said.
"More guns, especially dangerous ones, have made your job easier, is that right?" he asked, clearly fishing for her to attack the ease of access to guns.
But she evaded.
"I understand the Second Amendment rights," she said.
But Connolly snapped back. "I didn't ask that question."
The back-and-forth continued, with Cheatle ultimately avoiding giving a straight answer. The threat environment is "always difficult and it is always evolving."
"You don't make my job easier for considering your qualifications to lead the Secret Service," Connolly said.
