Blistering lawsuit filed against GOP's new 'slapdash' gerrymander

The ink is barely dry on the Missouri Republican Party's mid-decade gerrymander, and it has received its first lawsuit, filed in the state circuit court of Jackson County by the elections watchdog group Campaign Legal Center and the ACLU of Missouri.

The map in question, passed after President Donald Trump ordered Republican-controlled states to redraw their maps to try to block a Democratic election wave next year, chops up a Democratic district in Kansas City, likely eliminating longtime Rep. Emanuel Cleaver in favor of a Republican.

'What an idiot': Trump's attack dog mocked as 'mortgage fraud' allegation crumbles

President Donald Trump's Federal Housing Finance Agency director Bill Pulte has been on a tear accusing various critics of the administration of mortgage fraud — most recently Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook, whom he claimed improperly took out mortgages on two separate properties as primary residences. However, a new Reuters report throws this in serious doubt, by revealing that preliminary loan documents indicate she had disclosed to her credit union one would be a vacation home.

The apparent misfire, which could significantly complicate Trump's attempts to fire Cook from the Fed, resulted in an explosion from commenters on social media, who broadly mocked Pulte — particularly since separate reporting suggested his parents had in fact committed the same fraud he tried to pin on Cook.

New docs blow hole in Trump admin’s mortgage fraud allegations against Fed official

New documents obtained by Reuters contradict allegations made by a Trump administration bureaucrat that Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook committed mortgage fraud.

Federal Housing Finance Agency director Bill Pulte had previously claimed to have unearthed documents indicating Cook, who had been unwilling to follow President Donald Trump's demands to lower interest rates, had declared two separate residences as her primary home in mortgage statements, which, depending on the jurisdiction, can be against the law when it causes banks to lend under more favorable terms.

'Disastrous': Experts alarmed over Trump admin's 'genuinely frightening' move

Public health and environment defenders on Friday condemned the Trump administration’s announcement that it will no longer uphold Environmental Protection Agency rules that protect people from unsafe levels of so-called ”forever chemicals” in the nation’s drinking water.

In addition to no longer defending rules meant to protect people from dangerous quantities of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)—called forever chemicals because they do not biodegrade and accumulate in the human body—the EPA is asking a federal court to toss out current limits that protect drinking water from four types of PFAS: PFNA, PFHxS, GenX, and PFBS.

'Horrible pick': MAGA turns on Kash Patel over bungled Kirk manhunt

After FBI Director Kash Patel dropped the ball during the scramble to find the killer who shot pro-Trump activist Charlie Kirk in Utah, an increasing number of figures in the MAGA movement are losing confidence in him and demanding his ouster, The New Republic reported on Friday.

Although the suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was arrested on Friday, Patel has drawn fury for a series of mistakes in the case, including publicly congratulating law enforcement for bringing in the wrong person. Influential anti-diversity activist Chris Rufo has already called for his removal, saying he "performed terribly in the last few days, and it's not clear whether he has the operational expertise to investigate, infiltrate, and disrupt the violent movements — of whatever ideology — that threaten the peace in the United States."

Charlie Kirk slaying suspect comes from MAGA family — but may not have agreed with them

Although much remains unknown about Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old arrested in connection with the assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk in Orem, Utah, his grandmother made one thing clear, reported The Daily Beast: he comes from a heavily Republican and pro-Trump family.

"Although MAGA figureheads have been quick to point fingers at the left for Kirk’s death, Tyler’s grandmother, Debbie Robinson, 69, insisted that they come from a family of Trump supporters," reported Amber Lewis. "She spoke with Daily Mail on Friday after news of Robinson’s arrest broke. 'My son, his dad, is a Republican for Trump,' Debbie told the outlet. 'Most of my family members are Republican. I don’t know any single one who’s a Democrat.'"
