A new report revealed Thursday that the U.S. has planned to admit 4,500 applications from white South Africans as refugees, according to Reuters.

The Trump administration has limited its refugee applications from other countries. This new target, according to an unreported U.S. State Department document from Jan. 27, showed a push to increase refugees from South Africa, Reuters reported.

"Trump has said the U.S. would only admit 7,500 total refugees from around the world in fiscal year 2026, while a much higher cap of 40,000 to 60,000 was discussed internally last year," according to Reuters. "Only 2,000 white South Africans had entered the U.S. as refugees as of January 31 under a program launched in May 2025, although the pace has picked up in recent months."...

WASHINGTON – Veteran members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) say the Trump administration has moved from offensive to straight racist with its decision to welcome white South Africans as refugees.

Amid continuing controversy over President Donald Trump’s crackdown on immigration by people of color, one senior Black House Democrat lamented “the most blatant show of white supremacy in America in the history of the world.”

The Sunday Times based in Johannesburg, South Africa, accused President Donald Trump of blindsiding the African nation's leader who arrived in Washington Wednesday for an Oval Office meeting.

"US president Donald Trump blindsided his counterpart President Cyril Ramaphosa during their meeting in the White House's Oval Office by playing a montage of video clips of EFF leader Julius Malema singing about killing white people," the Times published.

The EFF, or Economic Freedom Fighters, are described as a "South African Marxist–Leninist and pan-Africanist political party."...

During his Oval Office meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa Wednesday, Donald Trump lashed out at the "fake news" for asking a question about white Afrikaners being granted refugee status in the United States over unsubstantiated claims of "genocide."

NBC's Peter Alexander was the first to ask, "Can you explain to Americans why it's appropriate to welcome white Afrikaners here when other refugees like Afghans, Venezuelans, Haitians have all had their protected status revoked?"

"Well, this is a group, NBC, that is truly fake news," Trump began. "They ask a lot of questions in a very pointed way. They're not questions, they're statements." ...

Conservative journalist David Weigel, who writes for Semafor, was stunned by President Donald Trump's willingness to believe right-wing talking points about "white genocide" in South Africa.

Weigel appeared as part of the panel on CNN's State of the Union on Tuesday, where Manu Raju played a clip of Trump defending his decision to grant refugee status to Afrikaner farmers.

"They happen to be white. But whether they're white or Black, makes no difference to me," Trump said Monday. "But white farmers are being brutally killed and their land is being confiscated." ...
