On the Legal AF podcast, host Michael Popok and legal analyst Lisa Graves shared how put off they were by Justice Neil Gorsuch's opinion in the United States v. Hemani ruling. The case involved a Texas gun owner who was found with marijuana and admitted to regularly using the drug.

The Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that the federal government can't automatically disarm someone for using marijuana a few times a week, finding the prosecution at the center of the case violated the Second Amendment, according to reporting by SCOTUSblog....

Ricky Buria, Hegseth's chief of staff, started spreading the rumor in early 2025 and created a story that he and Hegseth had evaded the secretary's security detail while at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Pentagon City, the outlet reported.

"There’s no proof that the great escape actually happened, but the tale has reverberated within the administration and stoked continued frustration with Buria’s powerful role leading US military policy," according to The Post. ...

GOP Senate hopeful thinks alcohol should only be legal for those who distill it themselves

A Wisconsin Republican hopeful for Senate told a group of Republican voters in Jefferson County that he doesn't think alcohol ever should have been legal for "commercialized" sale.

According to Rolling Stone's Tessa Stuart, real estate developer Eric Hovde made the comments during a 2017 GOP "Pints and Politics" event in Johnson Creek, when he was considering a Senate run in that upcoming midterm, during a broader discussion about the legalization of marijuana.

"I get the argument that marijuana is a lot less harmful than any other drug — including, arguably, alcohol — and that kids [might] try marijuana because it’s illegal, and think ‘Oh, I handled that, so I can try something harder.’ So, I get that argument from people that are pro-marijuana. … The easier solution would [be] to just decriminalize it. Don’t make it a commercial enterprise," said Hovde....
