'Trump starts today as a loser': President mocked as justices reject sexual abuse appeal

President Donald Trump was mocked on Monday after the Supreme Court shut down his appeal of the E. Jean Carroll sexual abuse verdict, leaving a $5 million judgment against him standing.

In 2023, a jury found Trump liable for sexually abusing writer E. Jean Carroll in a New York department store dressing room in the mid-1990s. They also found he defamed her when he denied it. The verdict carried $5 million in damages, which Carroll can now move to collect.

Legal experts reacted to the major decision, detailing the significance....

'I don't think it will work': Nixon attorney blows up Trump's criminal appeal 'strategy'

Donald Trump's potential appeal strategy isn't likely to work, according to a former attorney for Richard Nixon's White House.

Former Richard Nixon White House counsel John Dean appeared on CNN on Saturday, and was asked about the ongoing prosecution of Trump. Specifically, he was asked about the ex-president's strategy in the criminal hush-money cover up case he's currently facing.

"This is a very strong case," Dean said before being asked about the "salacious" aspects of the witness testimony. ...

Trump handed yet another loss as appeals court smacks down latest delay tactic

Former President Donald Trump's latest demand to put the Manhattan hush money trial on hold was just smacked down.

According to the Associated Press, Trump was seeking to stay the trial, the first of his four criminal cases to go to court, while he tries to get the case moved out of Manhattan to another jurisdiction on the grounds that he can't get a fair jury pool there.

However, according to the report, Justice Marsha Michael "has once again denied a request by Trump’s attorneys to halt his criminal trial ... [she] issued the ruling just minutes after a brief hearing. The arguments in the midlevel appeals court came hours after the jury selection process concluded in Trump’s criminal trial, which is currently taking place roughly two miles south."...

Trump served notice E. Jean Carroll's lawyer can 'get to work' on his assets next week

Donald Trump was warned by a former federal prosecutor on Sunday that, if he fails to post a bond or pay the full amount owed to E. Jean Carroll, the columnist's attorneys can "get to work" on collecting the judgment for defamation after this week.

Trump lost two defamation trials against Carroll, with a jury finding him liable in the first for sexually assaulting her. He was ordered to pay $5 million in the first trial, and more than $83 million in the second one.

MSNBC legal analyst Joyce Vance wrote Sunday evening that the former president is facing a critical deadline in that case this coming week....

'Bond remains elusive': Trump's latest rant seen as sign he can't pay massive legal bill

Former president Donald Trump late Friday night railed against the civil fraud case in which he was ordered to pay hundreds of millions of dollars. Some saw it as a sign that he can't even afford the bond needed to appeal it.

Trump has promised to challenge the massive judgment, but legal experts suggest it will be unsuccessful, except for maybe shaving some money off the total fine.

Still, none of that has stopped Trump from lashing out at the judge and prosecutor in that case....

'That's how he does business': Trump biographer warns those who may bail ex-president out

The struggle for Donald Trump to come up with the whopping sum to satisfy a bond or pay up front with cash is nothing compared to if he actually loses his appeal.

David Cay Johnston, the Pulitzer Prize winner and Syracuse Law lecturer appearing on CNN's "Anderson 360" discussed the liquidity challenges that former President Donald Trump is scrambling to sort out after losing both an $83.3 million defamation case in federal civil court lodged by E. Jean Carroll and Manhattan Justice Arthur Engoron's $450 million disgorgement damages ruling on Trump for committing widespread fraud for years.

He believes Trump has for years overstated his wealth. ...
