President Donald Trump blasted a Republican senator — claiming he has been playing "political games" and pushing back against the president's nominee for surgeon general — calling for voters to unseat him in the Republican primary.

Casey Means, the Make America Healthy Again movement's pick for surgeon general, has faced a stagnant Senate confirmation after more than 10 months. Several key Republicans have expressed concerns about her vaccine stance, medical credentials and controversial health claims.

Committee Chair Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) repeatedly questioned Means on vaccines during her Senate confirmation hearing in February, which she mainly dodged. Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) subsequently indicated they maintain reservations about her nomination....

The White House was pushing to reaffirm its support for troubled surgeon general nominee Casey Means on Tuesday after President Donald Trump suggested he could withdraw her nomination.

Trump said this weekend that he would be open to pulling his support for Means, who is the sister of Calley Means, a White House senior adviser, The Hill reported.

“Well, we’re looking at a lot of different things. I don’t know how she’s doing in the nomination process. I’m more focused on Iran,” Trump demurred. “But, you know, something like that would be possible. We certainly have a lot of, we have a lot of great candidates.”...

President Donald Trump's nominee for surgeon general, Casey Means, claimed that a Democratic lawmaker's staff had manipulated data concerning her ties to wellness products she has endorsed and her financial connections to those companies.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) accused Means of not disclosing her endorsed social media posts — and she criticized his team in response.

"Dr. Means, are you familiar with [Federal Trade Commission] policy that requires those who are recommending products online to disclose their financial connection to those companies?" Murphy asked. ...

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) had some serious questions for surgeon general nominee Casey Means Wednesday during a Senate hearing over her open use of psychedelics.

Collins raised concerns during the hearing about Means' comments on psychedelic drugs, with the lawmaker citing how "addiction and drug overdoses are a major problem for families and communities in my state of Maine and across the nation."

"I am concerned that in your book on 'Good Energy' that you urged readers to consider psilocybin-assisted therapy," Collins said. "You also said you were inspired to try psychedelics and what I can only describe as an internal voice that whispered 'it's time to prepare.' Illicit drug use remains a huge problem in this country. This didn't happen in your teen years. According to your book, in 2021 you began using illicit psychedelic mushrooms. So my questions to you are twofold. One, do you stand by what you said in your book encouraging people to try psychedelics? And second, as surgeon general, should you be confirmed, how would you speak to the American people about the use of illicit drugs?"...

A fiery back and forth erupted between Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) and Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) Wednesday during the Senate hearing for President Donald Trump's nominee for surgeon general, Casey Means.

Means, a favorite of Health Secretary Robert F. The "alternative medicine" blogger has been a controversial pick to lead the nation's public health agency. Her initial confirmation hearing was postponed because she went into labor and rescheduled to Wednesday after she gave birth to her son, Phoenix.

During the hearing, Sanders snapped at Mullin after the MAGA lawmaker criticized the Affordable Care Act and suggested getting rid of it altogether. ...

Dr. Casey Means, President Donald Trump's nominee for surgeon general and an advocate of RFK Jr.'s "Make America Healthy Again" movement, admits that her money-making ventures as an online influencer can appear "messy," according to The Associated Press.

In an article about Means's online money-making schemes, the AP quoted the unlicensed doctor as acknowledging that allowing supplement companies to sponsor her 200,000-subscriber strong newsletter can create questionable optics.

“I do understand how it’s messy," Means admitted on a recent podcast....
