A group of Catholic bishops is preparing a "special message" for President Donald Trump and is expected to consider it on Wednesday.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops announced it will take a stand for migrants whom the Trump administration has targeted in an aggressive crackdown that has prevented many from receiving communion, according to The Washington Post.

They launched a campaign called "You Are Not Alone," which aims to provide direct aid to and offer solidarity with migrants, who make up about one-third of the U.S. Church. Another 14% of Catholics are children of immigrants....

Remember Pope Francis said some pretty stuff about how Catholic authorities need to be less obsessed with their attempts to control human sexuality and more interested in helping the poor, and how a bunch of liberals who are grading the pope on a massive curve got excited? Remember how meanie atheists said that it doesn't matter and we can tell you right now that nothing will change? Well, I do like saying "I told you so," so let me tell it to you again.

So far, I have no takers on the question of why it's okay for the city of NYC to force private buses that serve the public to stop making women sit in the back of the bus, but acceptable for Catholic-owned hospitals and universities to do the same thing by requiring women to pay out of pocket for preventive health services. I have my own theories about this, the main being that contraception use is private and so there's not a shocking visible representation of how unfair it is to treat women's medical care so differently than men's medical care. Which is why I think it's time to come up with one.
