(Reuters) - Washington Mutual Inc, the biggest bank to fail in U.S. history, said it reached a settlement in a dispute betweenshareholders and certain creditors that had prevented the bank from emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

A New York City metalworking union has filed a RICO suit, alleging corruption and wrongdoing, against the major developers who they say are denying workers fair wages and benefits. In addition to the suit, however, union leaders say they aim to rehabilitate the public's perception of unions.

The charity group A Human Right said it was planning to purchase a satellite that would provide free basic Internet access to developing countries around the world.
