Trump admin ordered to return woman deported to Africa: report

A federal judge ruled on Wednesday that the Trump administration has to return a South American woman it tried to deport to the middle of Africa, according to the New York Times.

Adriana Maria Quiroz Zapata, 55, was deported from the United States to the Democratic Republic of Congo in April, according to the Times. A federal judge ruled that the Trump administration had most likely violated the law by doing so, according to Zapata's lawyers, who spoke with the Times.

The Times noted that the Trump administration is trying "to find places to deport migrants whom the government cannot send to their home countries, usually because a judge has ruled that they will most likely face persecution and torture."...

The Justice Department has launched an investigation into Colombian President Gustavo Petro, purportedly over his alleged ties to drug traffickers, The New York Times reported on Friday.

The U.S. attorney's offices in Manhattan and Brooklyn are investigating Petro, an adversary of President Donald Trump, and have included agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration and Homeland Security Investigations, three sources told The Times. The prosecutors leading the investigation have previously worked on international narcotics trafficking cases.

Investigators were in the early stages of examining whether Petro had met with drug traffickers and if he had received campaign donations from them, according to the anonymous sources who said they could not disclose the information surrounding the active investigations....

'Shocking': Kristi Noem's DHS caught in 'brazen lie' as old photo used to promote strikes

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and the Department of Homeland Security are accused of lying with an old boat photo that has "zero ties to the current situation" and using the image to promote attacks on alleged drug boats after Colombia's president questioned the strikes.

In a post on the DHS News account posted Monday on X, the agency attempted "to discredit Colombian President Gustavo Petro, who had accused Trump of murdering an innocent fisherman in an attack on a boat the U.S. claimed was run by drug smugglers," The Daily Beast reports Tuesday.

Petro is one of the first world leaders to challenge the Trump administration's attacks and call for a criminal investigation. ...

Political provocateur Bill Maher borrowed a term from President Donald Trump when ranting about "s---hole countries" while discussing immigration with Latino activist and Hollywood actor John Leguizamo.

Trump coined the phrase during his first term in office to refer to the usually third-world countries that were home to non-white citizens.

The Daily Beast wrote about Maher's Club Random podcast, where the host condemned former President Joe Biden's "come one, come all" border policy....
