PHILADELPHIA — As expected, Republican David McCormick received the endorsement of the Pennsylvania GOP Saturday in his second run for the U.S. Senate. What a difference a year makes. That the Republican Party is fully behind the Gulf War veteran and former hedge fund CEO is in contrast to last year, when McCormick, 57, lost a close GOP primary race to celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz. After much speculation, the native of Washington, Pennsylvania, who now has homes in Pittsburgh and Connecticut, officially entered the Senate race last week, after nearly 100 prominent Republicans wrote a public lett......

A new country song titled “Rich Men North of Richmond” is taking the right-wing spotlight away from Jason Aldean’s controversial “Try That in a Small Town.” The song — released by Oliver Anthony, a little-known artist from Farmville, Virginia — has garnered nearly 5 million views on YouTube in just three days, as well as praise from Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. “This is the anthem of the forgotten Americans who truly support this nation and unfortunately the world with their hard-earned tax dollars and incredibly hard work,” Greene wrote in a tweet Friday. The title of the ......

PHILADELPHIA — With pomp and circumstance of presidential proportions, President Joe Biden, first lady Jill Biden, and their family were in the stands of Franklin Field as 6,000 newly-minted University of Pennsylvania graduates turned their tassels Monday. Sitting on crimson cushions in a cordoned-off section of stadium bleachers, the president attended the commencement as a proud grandfather of Roberta “Maisy” Biden, who received a bachelor of arts degree. Biden sat quietly throughout the ceremony, but his presence was hard to miss. Roads near the stadium were blocked off, and Secret Service ......

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Grayson Sherrill on Friday apologized for his actions during the Capitol riot, particularly when the-then 21-year-old Gaston County man struck a police officer with a broken metal pipe outside the building. “I really want to say that I recognize that what I did was wrong,” Sherrill, now 24, told U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan in her Washington, D.C., courtroom. “I’ve had two years to really think about it. At the time, I let the chaos control what I did.” Chutkan made sure Sherrill will have some additional time for self-reflection. She sentenced the Cherryville man to sev......

PHILADELPHIA -- At the second meeting of the Philly Pen Circle, attendees signed their names in a ledger from the 1800s and compared custom fountain pen nibs. Over the course of the evening, their fingers became progressively more stained with ink. The club, for those who like pens, paper, "and other actual objects," is a bit of a splinter group. Michael McGettigan, a South Philly bike shop owner and analog aficionado, founded it in January after determining that the city's more-established pen collectors group gathered too rarely. (They meet quarterly). The new group meets monthly at a rotati......

Busloads of Latin American migrants found themselves freezing on Vice President Kamala Harris’ Washington, D.C., doorstep on Christmas Eve. Some migrants who were dropped off only had T-shirts protecting them against the 18-degree weather, as seen firsthand by CNN staffers. The administration said that two earlier buses had been taken to nearby shelters before others drove those to Harris’ home at the U.S. Naval Observatory. Passengers on the later buses were given blankets before they were taken to a church, according to the outlet. “The D.C. community has been welcoming buses from Texas anyt......
