Nobel winner delivers scathing Musk takedown: 'Blood of millions of children on his hands'

A Nobel laureate held the world's richest man Elon Musk responsible for the deaths of millions of children in a scathing takedown.

Renowned economist Paul Krugman called Musk "a horrible, terrible person" in a recent episode of his podcast. Krugman mostly focused on Musk's cuts to USAID while in the Trump administration.

"For most of last year, Elon Musk was the second most powerful man in America," Krugman explained. "He was running a large part of the government's budget, and during that time, he established a track record of evil incompetence."...

Trump's 'haphazard moves' leave judges begging for help to fix dilapidated courthouses

The fallout from President Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency has created serious concerns among judges, who issued an urgent plea to lawmakers Tuesday over crumbling courthouses, according to a new report.

Falling ceilings, contaminated water and malfunctioning elevators are among the problems facing federal judges and courts, Politico reported Tuesday. A top federal courts official has asked for courts to have the right to build or manage their own facilities. Courthouses are currently operated under the General Services Administration.

“Federal courthouses are in crisis. Without immediate action, the problems will continue to worsen,” Judge Robert J. Conrad Jr., director of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, wrote in a letter to Congress. “Action is needed now to reverse a downward spiral of critical-system failures, long-term underfunding of repairs, security risks, and climbing costs.”...

'Backward': Elon Musk called out by Trump Cabinet member over DOGE firings

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Friday called out Elon Musk's moves to cut government waste with government workforce firings "backward."

“The focus should have been on cutting the waste, fraud and abuse, and the people you could do over time,” Lutnick said in an interview with Axios co-founder Mike Allen. “I thought he got that backward.”

Lutnick was critical of Musk's decisions, saying he should have focused on cutting back government spending, The Washington Post reports....

‘Totally counter’ to DOGE: GOP seeks to slash government waste watchdog

WASHINGTON — After allowing Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to rescind billions of dollars’ of congressionally approved spending, House Republicans now want to slash funding for key independent government watchdogs nearly in half.

On the one hand, Democrats fear Republicans’ latest attack on the Government Accountability Office (GAO), which supervises multiple watchdogs, will interfere with dozens of investigations.

“You've got Republicans now who are not interested in getting objective, factual information,” Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) told Raw Story. “They just want information that's fed through their propaganda machine.”...

Exclusive: Memo exposes DOGE's potential 'end game' for U.S. Postal Service

While still under the leadership of Elon Musk, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) consulted with the leader of a little known arm of the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), a memo obtained by Raw Story revealed — prompting legal and academic experts to warn of potential trouble ahead.

On March 19, Chief Postal Inspector Gary Barksdale issued a “situational update” to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS), USPS’s law enforcement arm, about a meeting with DOGE, according to the memo, which Raw Story received through a Freedom of Information Act request.

In the memo, Barksdale reiterated former Postmaster General Louis DeJoy’s requests for assistance from DOGE as outlined in a March 17 letter to Congress, including help with “efforts to combat counterfeit postage.” ...

'This is our shot': Dems believe MTG's new job gives 'golden opportunity' to destroy GOP

WASHINGTON — The Democratic Party’s path back to power runs through Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and her made-for-TV Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE) oversight subcommittee — or so Democrats increasingly hope.

To many on the left, MTG is the right’s slightly disjointed answer to AOC, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). They believe the two women represent the future of their parties.

Greene entered Congress in 2021 and rose to fame as an extreme supporter of Donald Trump, dedicated to controversy and partisan drama. Winning the nod to chair the DOGE subcommittee tied her to Elon Musk, the Trump megadonor whose so-called Department of Government Efficiency has taken a chainsaw to federal staffing and budgets. ...
