'Oh my god': Trump said to have handed Dems midterm ad they've been waiting for

Trump's startling dismissal of Americans' pocketbooks as a consideration in the Iran war sparked disbelief and calls for Democrats to capitalize on the stunning admission.

On Tuesday, a reporter asked Trump, to "what extent are Americans' financial situation motivating you to make a deal" to end the war in Iran? Trump answered, "Not even a little bit. I don't think about Americans' financial situation."

The remark immediately backfired on social media....

'This is not good': Experts pounce on 'terrible' report showing Trump's latest 'huge miss'

Experts Friday reacted to a weak jobs report, which they say signals a shaky labor market — and the latest hit to President Donald Trump's economy.

Market analysts weighed in after the Labor Department revealed that 92,000 jobs were cut in February and unemployment has climbed to 4.4 percent, The New York Times reported. The report comes as uncertainty rises around the economy and America's growing conflict in the Middle East.

The Trump administration has blamed the weaker-than-expected report partially on the winter storms and strikes last month, according to The Times. And although weather can play a factor in unemployment, the data for February jobs doesn't necessarily tie solely to weather....

Trump's 'radical' policies are 'straining the MAGA faithful': Nobel Prize winner

Donald Trump's "radical" plan for the economy is alienating even his most faithful supporters, a Nobel Prize winner has claimed.

Paul Krugman explained the president's wilder choices for the economy, including a series of massive tariffs and bonuses for air traffic controllers who worked through the government shutdown are beginning to worry MAGA followers. Writing in his Substack newsletter, Krugman explained how Trump had inherited an economy that was in much better shape before he took office.

The Nobel Prize winner wrote, "Trump inherited when he took office was in much better shape than today’s economy, with lower unemployment combined with faster job growth, and inflation trending down." ...

'Weird and creepy': Conservative blasts Trump admin's latest initiative

A conservative critic branded the Trump administration's proposed incentives to encourage Americans to have more babies as something out of a Soviet-era Eastern Bloc country.

On CNN's Inside Politics Tuesday, Dana Bash cited a New York Times article about the administration's ideas to bolster the birthrate, that include $5,000 bonuses to new mothers, menstrual education programs, and a "Medal of Motherhood" for parents with six or more children.

"My view on this, has been that surveys for decades have shown that Americans would like to have more kids than they end up having," said The Washington Post's Ramesh Ponnuru. "And, so, the the thing that we need to be looking at as policymakers or people who are interested in this, is, how do we remove the obstacles that are keeping people from achieving their goals for their families, not trying to change their minds or socially engineer an outcome for them, which starts to look, frankly, weird and creepy." ...

'Blow your mind': Experts expose new 'major math error' in Trump trade formula

'Blow your mind': Experts expose new 'major math error' in Trump trade formula

Experts from a conservative think tank are challenging "bad math" in President Donald Trump's complicated-looking formula explaining why he thinks tariffs are a good idea.

CNN's John Berman exclaimed, "This is going to blow your mind here!" when introducing two economists with The American Enterprise Institute who pointed out the "major math error" to the Trump administration.

Dr. Stan Veuger explained that the administration "picked the wrong number" based on the results of a research paper to fill in one of the Greek symbols used "to make their approach look a little more sophisticated." The result made each tariff "four times bigger" than they would have been had they used the right number. ...

Trump's plans would 'damage' American economy for more than a decade: study

Trump's plans would 'damage' American economy for more than a decade: study

A new study from the Peterson Institute for International Economics projected that former President Donald Trump's second-term policy proposals of mass deportations and massive tariffs on all foreign goods would do significant damage to the American economy.

As CNN reports, the study projected that Trump's plans "would cause weaker economic growth, higher inflation and lower employment," and that in some cases "the damage could continue through 2040."

Among other things, the paper found that even in a best-case scenario Trump's policies would send inflation shooting back upward to 6 percent by 2026, and by 2028 consumer prices would be 20 percent higher than what they are today....
