Conservative talk show hosts and analysts alike are beginning to panic at the silence coming out of the White House regarding the nation’s slumping economy.

“It is not encouraging that the White House rapid response team is more invested in retweeting ‘Seditious 6’ tweets than talking about affordability, the cost of living, small business success, etc.,” posted conservative podcaster Erick Erickson on X. “It's almost like they don't have a positive story to tell.”

Trump is facing headwinds on multiple fronts, including his handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files and the recent federal government shutdown, but the ongoing problems with the economy appear to be the president’s biggest pain point....

As GOP activists continue debating the value of President Donald Trump's tariffs, one conservative called on fellow Republicans to speak out to rescue the economy.

"Tariffs have negatively impacted everything from the grocery prices to wage growth and much of the institutional right that long opposed tariffs now refuse to speak out against tariffs because they want a seat at Trump’s table," said Erick Erickson on X. "They stopped speaking against antisemitism because they thought that’d attract young men to them. And now they’re complicit in corrupting the right’s understanding of both economics and morality — so cutting off all the legs of the stool to own the left."

GOP political strategist Mike Madrid noted sarcastically, "If only someone had told us this would happen in 2016." He was among those Republicans willing to stand up against Trump in 2016. He and others went on to co-found the Lincoln Project. ...

Prominent conservative Erick Erickson said late Thursday night that his wife who has lung cancer is suffering thanks to the "mess" of the Trump administration.

Erickson is a frequent defender of the GOP, although he recently came under fire from MAGA after suggesting Trump's latest firing was a "bad idea."

MAGA is demanding that a Fox 40 producer in Sacramento be fired for slamming her own network's coverage of ICE migrant arrests.

Jodi Bacon, a morning segment and planning producer with Fox 40-KTXL, posted Friday, "SOOOO grimy...of COURSE Border Patrol had a FOX reporter ride along with them. To be targeted for NO reason is awful. This country deserves better."

Bacon's post referred to a segment by Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin, who wrote in part, "We just rode along w/ Border Patrol as they conducted immigration enforcement in Sacramento, the capitol of the sanctuary state of California. Upon arrival at a Home Depot, suspected illegal aliens took off running in all directions. 10+ arrested."...

A right-wing radio host got hit with a flurry of reminders on Sunday about his past comments about Donald Trump and the Jan. 6 riot.

This time, Erickson was trying to make a point about how Biden's speech honoring military veterans who landed on the beaches of Normandy was actually a slight against his opponent in the GOP.
