In April 2023, as Donald Trump continued to delay submitting a personal financial disclosure required for all presidential candidates, federal government officials responsible for compelling Trump’s compliance mused over whether the former president would simply ignore them.

After all, these government officials are lawyers at the U.S. Office of Government Ethics — the very kind of “deep state” denizens that Trump has vowed to purge if he wins the White House in November.

And they had good reason to believe Trump might simply go rogue: the former president and 2024 Republican presidential candidate had already blown past a final, mid-March federal deadline for offering up details about his personal wealth. ...

A University of South Carolina alumnus and donor said he would still keep his upcoming meeting about funding an endowment for the school’s Honors College.

But the donor was furious and appalled at the school for introducing former President Donald Trump on the field at halftime of last November’s football game against Clemson. Dressed in a blue suit and striped tie, Trump smiled, clapped and waved to the crowd, which showered him with a mixture of cheers and jeers.

Preparing for former President Donald Trump to speak on the South Carolina state fairgrounds this summer required a statewide — and national — effort.

Maps and documents exclusively obtained by Raw Story through a South Carolina Freedom of Information Act request detail how significant a public effort it was.

Local police, fire, public works and emergency management departments, plus state law enforcement and event organizers all coordinated security plans for the South Carolina Republican Party's Silver Elephant Gala in the state’s capital, Columbia, S.C., where Trump — who is leading the 2024 GOP presidential nominating race while facing 91 felony counts — spoke on Aug. 13....
