This week, I thought I'd kick off the Friday Genius Ten with a band that's given me a lot of practice in the art of walking (admiring someone's professional work) and chewing gum (grasping that they are a total misogynist and I would not like to be their friend). I was thinking of picking their song "Turd on the Run" for the humor value, but realized then half my day would be eaten up by the tone deaf and the humorless getting pissy with me. So, instead I'll pick a song that demonstrates the art of thinking a song is awesome while being appalled at some of its lyrics.

They're such a new band that Genius hasn't even picked up on them yet, but I still have to share, because they're so amazing. Last night, we went to see The Hounds Below, and it was one of those all-enrapturing, amazing shows that you wish every show could be, except that if they all were, then you wouldn't have those stand-out shows. This is just a shitty show video that someone took of their first single "Crawling Back To You" (which they had for sale as 45s---250 pressed, so I had to grab one), but even in this, you can see how great they are:

Wednesday night, we went to see one of those great bands you think that you'll never get to see, but indeed they're still together. It was amazing, so they kick off the Friday Genius Ten. Leave yours in comments.
