Trump brags as golf tournament names him honorary chairman despite long-time feud

President Donald Trump announced that he's accepting an honorary chairmanship for the PGA Tour's upcoming Presidents Cup in Chicago.

In a Saturday Truth Social post, Trump touted the upcoming event, even though the PGA shunned Trump's golf courses for a decade after his presidential run and even moved one long-running event from his Doral golf course to Mexico City.

"At the request of the PGA Tour, and its Great new Commissioner, Brian Rolapp, it is my Honor to accept being the Honorary Chairman of the upcoming Presidents Cup, which will take place at the Medinah Country Club in Chicago," Trump wrote. "This will be a particularly exciting event."...

Columnist unmasks Trump's golf con in scathing takedown: 'Fluffing up his lies'

A columnist on Monday pointed to President Donald Trump's history of golfing and suggested he could be hitting the links in a state of delusion.

Rick Reilly, a Washington Post contributing columnist, said the president's praise of his own golf game has left him skeptical of the player-in-chief's skill set.

"You people make me sick," Reilly quipped. "Just because President Donald Trump is 80 years old with a pancake-flat golf swing and the chipping skills of Edward Scissorhands, you refuse to believe he could shoot a 70 and hog two trophies a couple of weeks ago at his Bedminster course in New Jersey."...

Trump's weekend golf outing draws jabs from his critics: 'Costing taxpayers millions'

President Donald Trump's trip to his Virginia golf course on Saturday generated a wave of online commentary, with critics seizing on everything from the cost of his travel to the device in his hand.

Several accounts documented the president's return to the White House after lunch at the club. Freelance photographer Andrew Leyden, posting under the handle @PenguinSix, shared a series of photos of Trump in a white "USA" cap waving as he arrived back, writing simply that the president "has returned to the White House following a lunch at his golf course."

Others used the outing to make sharper points. The account PatriotTakes, @patriottakes, posted video of Trump at the club and turned it into a critique of the costs, writing that the trips "add up costing taxpayers millions." The account pressed the political contrast directly: "Why don't Republicans cut these trips instead of food assistance for poor families?"...

Trump slammed by critics for pastime choice while Iran war rages on

Donald Trump has been grilled by political analysts for his choice of pastime while the war in Iran rages on.

The president approved a series of strikes on Iran earlier this month, joining Israel in a bombing run on the Middle Eastern country. Trump's contradictory messaging on the state of war and reasons for striking Iran has already inflamed his most dedicated supporters, but critics now believe the president is losing sight of how serious a situation it is.

A White House Pool report confirmed the president's motorcade had left his Mar-a-Lago resort and dropped Trump off at a golf course earlier this morning (March 28). The "out of town pool report" confirmed POTUS had "arrived at Trump International Golf Course at 9.02am."...

White House says Trump's status as 'champion-level golfer' will help his next big project

White House says Trump's status as 'champion-level golfer' will help his next big project

Donald Trump has set his sights on renovating a "president's golf course" he has never officially played on.

The president will look to "renovate and beautify Joint Base Andrews’ golf courses" according to White House spokesman Davis Ingle. Trump has already taken on several construction projects, with the east wing of the White House torn down to make way for a presidential ballroom. Plans to repaint the Eisenhower Building have been met with legal action, as a preservation group recently filed a lawsuit against the president.

But it appears these are minor setbacks, with Trump now shifting focus to Joint Base Andrews' course. Trump once suggested the course had once been great but was "destroyed over the years, through lack of maintenance." ...

'I have seen your swing': Biden accepts Trump's debate golf challenge

As Democrats openly questioned President Joe Biden's widely regarded poor showing at Thursday night's debate, former President Donald Trump boasted that he's not only in great cognitive shape, he's as healthy as he's been in decades.

And he challenged his rival to match him on the golf course.

"I just won two club championships," he said. "Not even senior. Two club championships. To do that you have to be quite smart and you have to be able to hit the ball a long way." ...
