NYC bomb suspects planned attack worse than the Boston Marathon bombing: officials

Two men were charged Monday on suspicion of using weapons of mass destruction and supporting the Islamic State after throwing a bomb near New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani's Gracie Mansion.

Emir Balat and Ibrahim Kayumi were arrested Saturday night after authorities alleged they tried to detonate two explosive devices, according to The New York Times. One of the explosives reportedly tested positive for TATP, which is a highly volatile material that has been used in terrorist attacks over the last 10 years.

United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York Jay Clayton said that one of the suspects said they were apparently plotting an attack worse than the Boston Marathon bombing. ...

Trump uncorks new threat to old foe: 'Very bad choice!'

President Donald Trump dropped a new threat to an old international foe on Tuesday.

Trump was slated to speak in Iowa and was arriving in Des Moines where he was expected to speak about the economy amid Republican concerns over upcoming midterm losses when he shared a sharp criticism of Nouri al-Maliki, an Iraqi politician who served as Prime Minister of Iraq from 2006 to 2014, a period marked by significant sectarian violence, the rise of ISIS and allegations of authoritarian governance and marginalization of Sunni populations.

Trump wrote the following on his Truth Social platform:...

‘Undermines our defense’: State anti-extremism office shuts amid Trump layoffs

The U.S. Department of State is eliminating its Office of Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) as part of a sweeping round of layoffs affecting more than 1,350 employees that began on Friday, Raw Story has learned.

Raw Story revealed the threat to CVE in May, as the Trump administration pressed for mass layoffs in the federal government. The layoffs were paused by court challenges but this week the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Trump’s favor.

The six CVE employees, who led the department’s international efforts to prevent violent extremists from radicalizing and inspiring acts of violence, are all being terminated, William Braniff, executive director of the Polarization and Extremism Research & Innovation Lab at American University, told Raw Story....

Trump called out for 'intentionally lying' in his latest statement on New Orleans attack

Donald Trump continued to call out President Joe Biden's "open border policy" for allowing "Radical Islamic Terrorists" into the country, as authorities investigate the New Year's Eve terror attack that killed 15 and injured scores of others.

This, despite the fact that the driver of the pickup truck that plowed into the crowd on Bourbon Street — 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar — has been identified as a U.S. citizen of Texas. Jabbar was killed in a shootout with police that injured two officers, according to authorities.

Trump posted to TruthSocial on Thursday morning, "With the Biden 'Open Border’s Policy' I said, many times during Rallies, and elsewhere, that Radical Islamic Terrorism, and other forms of violent crime, will become so bad in America that it will become hard to even imagine or believe. That time has come, only worse than ever imagined. Joe Biden is the WORST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF AMERICA, A COMPLETE AND TOTAL DISASTER. What he and his group of Election Interfering 'thugs' have done to our Country will not soon be forgotten! MAGA" ...

'Trump told me he wiped ISIS off the planet': Ex-president mocked following terror attack

'Trump told me he wiped ISIS off the planet': Ex-president mocked following terror attack

A devastating terrorist attack on a concert venue in Moscow that has reportedly left burning devastation, dozens of people dead, and dozens more injured still has a number of questions swirling around it, chiefly who carried out the attack and why.

Islamic State (ISIS) has claimed credit for the attack in a post on Telegram in the hours following the news. However, experts caution there is no actual proof ISIS was involved, and that the extremist group has a track record of falsely taking credit for disasters they had nothing to do with, to try to inflate their perceived worldwide capabilities.

But that hasn't stopped some commentators from weighing in on X — and using the opportunity to pummel former President Donald Trump for his past wild claims about ISIS....

Florida man gets 6 years in federal prison for lying about support for ISIS

ORLANDO, Fla. — A federal judge sentenced Moad Mohamed Benkabbou to six years in prison for lying to federal agents about his past support for the Islamic State, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida. Mohamed Benkabbou, a 23-year-old from Kissimmee, was indicted by a federal grand jury last year on three counts of false statements to a federal agency related to a terrorism investigation. In a sentencing memo filed in September, prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office said the FBI began investigating Mohamed Benkabbou in summer 2019 for his possible invo......
