GOP rep who promised voters he'd end stock trading now 'most prolific' investor

Rep. Rob Bresnahan (R-PA), who campaigned on banning stock trading among lawmakers, is now one of the House's "most prolific traders," according to Business Insider.

The report said that Bresnahan wrote an op-ed in a local paper in March 2021 "stating that if elected, he would co-sponsor legislation to ban stock trading in Congress."

Bresnahan argued at the time, "Some of the most prolific traders in the country serve in Congress. Whether or not they have done something wrong, the idea that we can buy and sell stocks while voting on legislation that will have a direct impact on these companies is wrong and needs to come to an end immediately."...

'Doesn't know how to represent': Constituents irked after GOP lawmaker snubs town hall

Constituents in eastern Alabama are furious with Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL) for skipping out of the district before they could voice their concerns about issues like the economy, healthcare, and national security, according to WRBL.

The group Indivisible Auburn-Opelika invited Rogers to a community “People’s Town Hall” held last week at the local library, but Rogers declined to attend.

Organizers told WRBL that Rogers’ absence "is nothing new," even if House Speaker Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) discouraged Republican lawmakers from attending town halls due to recent vitriol and disruptions....

'Bully': Ex-GOP lawmaker must have chaperone after odd incident involving political sign

An Arizona town councilman from Fountain Hills has been banned from interacting with any town employee without a chaperone following a bizarre incident involving a political sign, The Arizona Republic reports.

"Fountain Hills City Council sanctioned Councilmember Allen Skillicorn, barring him from the council’s vice mayor position, removing tax-dollar funding for him to participate in meetings and events, and mandating he have a monitor any time he interacts with a town employee in person," reported Lux Butler. "In February, Skillicorn was found in violation of Fountain Hills City Council Code of Ethics by a third-party investigating law firm, Fitzgibbons Law Offices. Investigators state in the reports that Skillicorn’s actions on two separate occasions violated multiple sections of the council’s ethics guidelines."

"In my opinion, and the opinion of the council majority, Allen Skillicorn has behaved like a bully," said fellow councilmember Brenda Kalivianakis. "He has embarrassed the town by flouting the very code of ethics he swore to uphold when he took office. The council reluctantly did what had to be done."...
