Donald Trump recently filed an "intriguing" letter in his New York criminal case involving alleged hush money payments, according to a legal analyst on Sunday.

Lawfare's Roger Parloff, who recently reported that Judge Cannon had created a "secret docket" in the process of overseeing the Trump case over classified documents, flagged the letter on his social media account. He said the letter was made public on April 3, and filed March 19.

"If Trump takes the stand, the People would seek to cross-examine him about '13 different court determinations' about him as well as the 'underlying facts' that led to those," Parloff wrote on Sunday. "We don’t know which prior court findings the People seek to introduce. (If the letter is imprecise, the People might also be seeking to put in other kinds of findings—like the Jan. 6 Committee’s.) In any case, Trump seeks to bar them all."

A legal analyst is clearing things up when it comes to a recent filing in Donald Trump's civil fraud case.

Earlier in the day, Raw Story reported that documents related to Donald Trump's $175 million bond in that case were "returned for correction" after his lawyers reportedly forgot to attach a financial statement.

But legal eagle Lisa Rubin had something else in mind....

The left-leaning watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) sent a blistering letter to House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) on Thursday, accusing him of abuse of congressional power.

The letter, which also went out to House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY), highlighted what Crew said in a statement constituted "real harm to the American people" being done by political manipulation of oversight authority.

"When oversight is misused for partisan aims, we know that it can chill the exercise of lawful activities in both government and civil society, whether such an effect is intended or accidental," stated the letter, written by CREW director Noah Bookbinder. "Your committee’s oversight activities have done just that and, in the process, have caused real-world harm."...

The state of Texas lost in its clash with the Border Patrol at the Supreme Court, with the justices allowing federal agents to clear away razor wire the state National Guard unilaterally installed to impede border agents from apprehending migrants in favor of its own blockade. But in a one-page letter issued shortly after, Gov. Greg Abbott flouted the court's ruling, proclaiming the migrants at the border to be an "invasion" and invoking Texas' "right to self-defense" as supreme over federal immigration laws.

Abbott's statement swiftly earned cheers from Trump-supporting voters and lawmakers — but it also triggered scorn bordering on downright horror from attorneys and legal observers.
