Marines' shocking ties to pro-Russian neo-Nazis exposed after Raw Story sues Trump agency

The U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) probed a Marine assigned to Camp Lejeune in North Carolina for ties to a pro-Russia neo-Nazi group in Poland, according to internal military files exclusively obtained by Raw Story.

The Marine was arrested when the FBI disrupted a plot to attack an energy facility on U.S. soil. Authorities found that a co-defendant in the case, also a Marine and a Russian linguist, was in possession of classified material. The links to the pro-Russian group and details of the classified materials investigation are reported here for the first time.

NCIS initially refused to provide records in response to a Raw Story Freedom of Information Act request, citing an exemption to protect privacy. Raw Story sued the federal agency, and the courts found in its favor....

Veterans slam J.D. Vance for disregarding a mess hall rule 'Marines learn on day 1'

Some fellow veterans criticized Vice President JD Vance's visit to the Marine Corps base in Quantico, VA, this week, particularly when Vance made his way to the mess hall to have lunch.

The Vice President sported a green military jacket and a bright red hat with the words, "Once a Marine, Always a Marine" emblazoned on it.

On X, formerly Twitter, journalist and former Marine @RonFilipkowski wrote, "Marines learn on Day 1 to never wear their cover inside and damn sure never to eat with it on. Maybe Corporal Correspondent went to a different boot camp than I did."...

Raw Story files lawsuit against the Pentagon and Navy

WASHINGTON — Raw Story today filed a federal lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Department of the Navy following the agencies’ refusal to release records related to a former U.S. Marine and avowed neo-Nazi.

In May, Raw Story investigative reporter Jordan Green filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the U.S. Navy for “memoranda, emails, correspondence or other documents” related to the former Marine, Jordan Duncan, who the government has accused of participating in a white supremacist terror plot and possessing classified government documents.

The U.S. Navy denied Raw Story’s request and subsequent appeal of that denial, citing Duncan’s privacy interests. Duncan, who has been detained since his arrest in 2020, is charged with conspiracy to illegally manufacture and transport firearms and conspiracy to damage an energy facility. ...

Neo-Nazi Marine Corps vet gets break over alleged possession of classified documents

WILMINGTON, N.C. — Federal prosecutors today agreed to not bring up classified materials found in possession of a Marine Corps veteran and neo-Nazi when he goes on trial on charges related to an alleged plot to attack the power grid to provide cover for an assassination campaign.

Raw Story exclusively reported that federal prosecutors notified the court that they found documents that appeared to be classified materials on devices seized from Jordan Duncan, the ex-Marine, following his arrest. In February 2021, the government notified the court that authorities were reviewing Duncan’s electronic devices for evidence of potential violations of federal law that criminalize mishandling government records and sensitive national defense information.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Barbara Kocher told Judge Richard E. Myers II during a Classified Information Procedures Act hearing on Friday that the government will refrain from making references to the materials during the upcoming trial of Duncan. ...

How the government's social media screening fails to flag extremists from within

“High-risk.”

That’s how the U.S. Government Accountability Office — an internal watchdog for the federal government — has classified the nation’s security clearance vetting process for the past five years.

The latest report to Congress dropped amid several national security threats from current and former government employees this year alone: 21-year-old airman Jack Teixeira leaked defense documents on a gaming social media site; a jailed neo-Nazi Marine Corps vet allegedly saved classified materials on his computer; a former FBI analyst was sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison for retaining defense documents in her home....
