Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD) lost his cool at his congressional debate on Tuesday, as his constituents laughed at his excuse for why gas prices have spiked so heavily since the start of the year.

The debate between Harris, a far-right MAGA lawmaker who chairs the House Freedom Caucus, and Democratic challenger Dan Schwartz, was clipped by the liberal group American Bridge.

"The fact is that diesel prices have gone up, there's no question about it," said Harris. "Why has it gone up? Because the Democrats and environmental regulations have not—"...

The internet was quick to correct President Donald Trump on Monday after he blasted Maryland's Democratic governor over a sewage spill in the Potomac River, then was mocked for lying about it.

Trump tried to hurl an attack at one of his critics, Gov. Wes Moore, over the incident and claimed via his Truth Social platform that Moore couldn't handle managing the emergency. Wastewater in Maryland and the Potomac Interceptor collapse has been operated by DC Water — not Moore or Democrats, like Trump attempted to claim.

"There is a massive Ecological Disaster unfolding in the Potomac River as a result of the Gross Mismanagement of Local Democrat Leaders, particularly, Governor Wes Moore, of Maryland," Trump wrote. "A sewer line breach in Maryland has caused millions of gallons of raw sewage to be dumped directly into the Potomac River, a result of incompetent Local and State Management of Essential Waste Management Systems."...

A Democratic senator was charged with extorting an ex-consultant having an affair in a secret sex recording, according to reports Thursday.

Maryland state Sen. Dalya Attar, a former prosecutor and the first Orthodox Jewish woman to serve in the state Senate, was charged by federal officials over an extortion plot that prosecutors say involved a political enemy in bed with a romantic partner, according to The Washington Post.

According to an indictment unsealed in a U.S. District Court in Maryland on Thursday, Attar was charged alongside her brother, Joseph, and politically appointed police officer Kalman Finkelstein, with eight counts related to extortion and wiretapping that happened between 2020 and 2022. ...

Connie Morella was a moderate Republican congresswoman from Maryland when Democrats told her if she didn’t change parties, redistricting would take away the seat she held for 16 years.

Morella told Raw Story she “chuckled” at the idea of changing parties, even as the Democratic state legislature cut out Republican voters in the northwestern part of her district and added a highly Democratic eastern area, ahead of the 2002 election.

“I thought, ‘By God, I'm going to show them. I'm going to stand up and fight,” said Morella, 94. ...

President Donald Trump read "a little biography" of Kilmar Abrego Garcia from a slip of paper during an Oval Office meeting Monday, offering it as proof that the Maryland man was a criminal who deserved to be held in an El Salvadoran prison.

Trump was speaking about Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), who traveled to the Central American country this week to check on Abrego Garcia's condition. The president then asked press secretary Karoline Leavitt to retrieve a piece of paper from another room.

"If you would, Karoline, maybe go into the room and see if you can find that little slip. I wrote some things down," the president said....

The crew of the cargo ship that rammed a major bridge in the US city of Baltimore, leading it to collapse, sent out a distress signal shortly before the collision, according to officials. The governor of Maryland, Wes Moore, said at a press conference on Tuesday that thanks to the emergency signal, officials were able to stop the traffic so that no more cars would drive onto the bridge. At least six people are still missing after the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore near Washington plunged into the water after one of its support pillars was hit by the cargo vessel early on Tuesday.
