Donald Trump marked Memorial Day with a Truth Social post that managed to honor fallen soldiers and attack Democrats in the same breath.

"Happy Memorial Day to all, including the Dumocrats, who disrespect our Military and all of the tremendous success that it has had over the last year," Trump wrote at 6am on the holiday. Memorial Day is traditionally one of the most unifying moments on the American political calendar, a day when presidents of both parties have set aside partisan conflict to honor the men and women who died in service to the country.

Trump did add to his attack, "God Bless those that have made the ultimate sacrifice. I love you all!"...

In a new Substack article, former Republican strategist Rick Wilson expressed his sympathy for Donald Trump's speechwriters whose attempts at "penning history" end up scrambled into "word vomit" by a president whose sole concern is to air his own grievances.

Wilson dissected Trump's Memorial Day speech at Arlington National Cemetery that the author called "repulsive" and blatantly lacking the "solemnity" that the country deserved in honor of its fallen heroes.

"If you read the transcript, you can see where some well-meaning, underpaid White House ghoul tried for a moment of grace and uplift, to no avail. They tried to do their job and give America the solemnity it deserves on that day. There were lines intended to honor the lives of soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines who made the ultimate sacrifice."...

Former President Donald Trump's Memorial Day remarks were met with fierce backlash from a slew of journalists, as well as legal and political experts Monday.

The MAGA leader's message — which was posted to Truth Social — included attacks on Judges Lewis Kaplan, who presided over two defamation cases against Trump from veteran writer E. Jean Carroll, and Arthur Engoron, who presided over the ex-president's New York civil fraud case. He also mentioned Judge Juan Merchan, who's presiding over Trump's hush money trial, which is expected to conclude this week.

Donald Trump's son, Eric, is catching some heat this Memorial Day weekend after a "particularly disgusting" statement he posted on social media.

Eric Trump, who made headlines due to his defendant status in a civil fraud lawsuit in New York as well as his appearances at his father's criminal trial, caused the firestorm when he responded to a photo posted of his family on X, formerly called Twitter. In addition to Eric, Donald Trump Jr. and Melania are in the picture.

[rebelmouse-image 24750096 original_size="500x375" expand=1]Happy Memorial Day!  As today is a day to honor those who've fallen with the hopes that they were  preserving our freedom, I recommend behaving like you're a free American today, so their sacrifice was not in vain.  I plan to be particularly lazy, at least for me, which means cooking a lot, doing housework, finishing up Patti Smith's memoir of her time with Robert Mapplethorpe, hitting the gym, and yes, doing a whole hour of actual work (taping Bloggingheads).  But that's it!  Relaxing!
