House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) was frustrated during a live CNN broadcast on Tuesday after he was questioned about a MAGA political operation after a prominent nonprofit pushed back on an indictment from the Trump administration.

Jordan was speaking with CNN anchor Phil Mattingly when the conversation got heated over mention that Moms for Liberty was considered to have ties with groups designated as hate or extremist by the Southern Poverty Law Center, which has been accused by President Donald Trump's Department of Justice's of wire and bank fraud. In a court filing on Tuesday, SPLC said that the FBI was aware that the organization had utilized their source information.

"Come on, Phil," Jordan said. "They're running a $3 million scam, right? They were they were telling their donors, oh, 'These hate groups are so terrible. Send us a bunch of money.' Meanwhile, they were paying people in the hate groups to foment the hate. $3 million over an eight year, 8 or 9 year period of time. It's like, that's unbelievable." ...

Also unspoken: the unceremonious departure of co-founder Bridget Ziegler, whose alleged sexual escapades undercut the moralistic message of the three-year-old organization that the Southern Poverty Law Center dubbed an“extremist group."...

Conservative group Moms for Liberty is reportedly struggling, and a good example of that was a recent school board meeting about a potential book ban, according to CNN.

Moms for Liberty saw a lot of early successes, but there is growing "pushback" about the group's conservative education agenda, according to the outlet's news report. This is reportedly occurring even on the group's home turf.

"In Florida, where the right-wing Moms for Liberty group was born in response to Covid-19 school closures and mask mandates, the first Brevard County School Board meeting of the new year considered whether two bestselling novels – 'The Kite Runner' and 'Slaughterhouse-Five' – should be banned from schools," according to the Saturday report. "A lone Moms for Liberty supporter sat by herself at the January 23 meeting, where opponents of the book ban outnumbered her."...

Former Florida GOP Chair Christian Ziegler will not be charged with rape, but Sarasota Police have asked state's attorney general to look into allegations of video voyeurism, the Herald-Tribune reported.

Police decided not to file charges after they viewed a video Ziegler made of a sexual encounter.

"The video showed that the encounter was likely consensual," police said in a press release this Friday. "Therefore, detectives were unable to develop probable cause to charge Ziegler with Sexual Battery."...

The far-right Christian nationalist organization Moms for Liberty issued, then later deleted, a statement declaring support for its co-founder after her husband, the chairman of the Florida Republican Party, was accused of sexual battery by a woman who allegedly has had a consensual “three-way sexual relationship” with the married couple.

“The Sarasota Police Department is investigating a sexual battery allegation against Florida GOP Chair Christian Ziegler, a political bombshell in the home state of former President Donald Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis,” The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports.

“The alleged sexual battery occurred inside the woman’s home in Sarasota last month,” the nonpartisan Florida Center for Government Accountability adds, citing a police report. “According to sources close to the investigation, she said she and both Zieglers had been involved in a longstanding consensual three-way sexual relationship prior to the incident.”...
